Re: It was just a fluke
ah SHK questioning my fandom again.... good to have you back bud
and if you are referring to game 3 of the 2003 NLDS you can blame Jose Cruz Jr. and his Fred Lewis like skills in RF and not Worrell for that disaster
watching a headcase like Wilson in the pressure packed playoffs should be interesting since Wilson is the epitome of a cool and collected closer

Hmmm...lately on this board we have the following about each person:
hitting coaches - suck
Bochy - suck
Sabes - suck
Renteria - suck
Lewis - suck
until the last month - Rowand - suck
Zito - suck
Sanchez - suck
Wilson - suck
Howry - suck
All offseason - Cain - never live up...he's had his chance
Yeah, I'm imagining things...my bad. I didn't say anyone here hated the Giants the team...they hate the Giants the people. The FO has been hated for years here and VERY few players are ever supported. You go ahead & keep ripping em, I'll keep defending em & you can then rip me for defending em.
You are inaccurately lumping and attributing individual player and management criticisms-- as being universally stated by each and every poster.
And that just isn't true.
Personally speaking, I'd say that list of player criticisms is pretty accurate, other than that I never gave up on Cain. I had some private doubts a couple of times last season when he gave up big innings, but I never dogged him publicly by saying "dump him" or saying that he overall sucked.
In fact, my big "way wrong" so far has been in backing The Pharaoh, but I merely stated that I was not ready to give up on him. I never said he was a sure thing.
Besides, that falls into a category of something you would approve of.
(Backing a failed kid)
Furthermore, I have been one of the loudest and earliest-on Nate supporters amongst us here.
I was calling for him to get starting playing time before last season even ended.
And I was calling for him to start this season, all off-season long.
And I'd bet good money that you were a Benitez apologist too, so really... who cares about what you feel should be "Mando-tory" pom-pom waving?
For that matter, you probably think the Warriors play pretty damn good defense too.
But anyway, the point is this-
We will continue to cheer loudly and support the players we feel are doing well, and be patient with the kids that are struggling -- for as long as we can.
And we will also criticize poor play when and where we see fit to do so.
If that's all just too heartbreaking for you, then I suggest you don't read the threads that contain player or management criticism.
Actually, I did not say all people...X, just those I was responding to on this thread. Just like if you're on a cat chat board and a thread about fur and say the word "ya'll" or "you all" you are not talking about all people on Earth.
I love the part where you say "you probably think". Can I play too? You probably think underage girls are perfect for you. You probably think Bush was a great President. You probably think racism is great. What other "you probably think" games do you like to play?

I "probably think" you still have issues about your botched childhood circumcision.
Which would also "probably" explain why it is that on this very board you referred to circumcision as being "genital mutilation".
Seriously, go take a valium and drink a beer.
I'm worried about your blood pressure.

It was just a fluke
Hey...$9 can't debate, so he just makes personal attacks. I know what kind of people do this sort of thing when the debate gets away from them. $9...you're the smartest person around, just ask you! I'm tempted to give some over the top personal attacks like you have, but I'll pass for now for the sake of the folks here who prefer (or are at least ABLE) to talk baseball. I'll even pass asking you how you could "probably think" anything rather than knowing what you are thinking.
Despite some of those who hate those of us defending Giants players...I still think these guys have done pretty well. The team has played as well as anyone in the MLB since that rotten start. That just goes to show that even w.o. any moves, we just might do alright...not bad for a team that wasn't considered very good!

Fresh - you make my point. Maybe we can just cut Wilson...think Benitez wants another $30M? Ok, I know you aren't saying you want that...but to say Wilson sucks (and is paid $400k), to me...those people lose credibility in their opinions...again, to me. Then again, if his WHIP goes down and he makes 5 all star games in a row & wins an MVP...folks here will then say he's ok...maybe.
You're right it's unfair to say Wilson sucks. But I hate him because he's painful to watch pitch. And frankly, I think there are probably other guys who can perform just as well, but that's a separate point.

You may be right, I'm just a bit gun shy after what we'd seen at closer over the years and happy to take the 40+ saves for $400k. Wilson makes me sweat too, but I can't help but hope he's learning on the job and can develop into a closer we can rely on.
Anyone think Nen would have been right with Hoffman had Baker not ruined him?

Who can perform "as well" and why would the Giants want to replace Wilson with one of them?
Who: Merkin, Affeldt
Why: Bring in a hitter by trading Wilson.
