Re: My respect for Sanchez just went WAY up
My take is simple.
Sanchez has had good stuff, but was SOFT. As soon as something didn't go as he may have wanted, he unravels to the point of eventual implosion.
The Giants gave him the job out of spring training without having to earn it. Pulling him from the rotation would do one of two things:
1) Piss him off to the point of having him prove the organization wrong.
2) Sulk like a ***** and let it affect his head further.
Now I think that Sanchez absolutely hit Fielder to prove a point. Whether it be for Fielder's past discretions or Sanchez proving through pitch location that this is a more aggressive, nastier Dirty Dirty. Now whether he can sustain I'd be interested to see. I would give Sadowski (sp?) another start or two in order to see if Sanchez's outing was or wasn't a fluke. I am at the point where if he doesn't show his mettle through this adversity, then I would trade him for a malt and a can of copenhagen.

My respect for Sanchez just went WAY up
dredinis21,
You make some great points about Sanchez. I personally just do not see him fitting into our future. With the performance today by Sadowski and seemingly no spot for him in the pen I think the best thing to do would be to have him come in during situations like Sunday and show that he still has the potential. I am praying that we are able to package him along with a couple of other non-factors for a 2nd basemen or Left Fielder. Sanchez might pan out, I just do not see it with the Giants.

I don't know if it was payback for Greene getting run over, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a combination of the Saturday loss/Fielder celebration and frustration for his recent struggles. Either way, Fielder was big time pissed.

Re: My respect for Sanchez just went WAY up
Fielder was indeed pissed. From the CCC Times:
"After the game, Fielder walked down the service tunnel toward the Giants clubhouse but stopped and sat in a golf cart for a few minutes before returning to the home side.
Fielder did not address reporters, but it would be understandable if he felt like a target after celebrating a three-run homer and the game-winning double in Saturday night's comeback victory.
Sanchez said the pitch was not intentional, and Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he certainly didn't order it...
Sanchez has not been held in high esteem with some teammates. But if he was looking to gain favor by hitting Fielder, he didn't admit to it.
"I don't need to (hit him)," Sanchez said. "I just want to go in. I'm not going to miss in the middle."
What was Fielder goinf to do? Sit on Sanchez? Do they play again this year?

I never said that Sanchez is the future. I think that he hasn't had this kind of adversity in his career yet. I'm curious to see what happens and am rooting for him to succeed but I also don't see it happening.

I think he was going to run him over, or maybe challenge him to a golf cart race.

Thanks for providing that snippet.
Obviously the article implies that Fielder sure felt it was intentional.
And of course Sanchez and Bochy would deny that to be true.
And good question about what Prince thought he was going to do. Maybe he decided that Pablo and Bengie would kick his ass like two rotund, tag team wrestlers if he messed with Sanchez, so he left after mulling it over?
What he said:
"I don't need to (hit him)," Sanchez said. "I just want to go in. I'm not going to miss in the middle."
What he meant:
"I don't need to (aim)," Sanchez said. "I just want to go inside his ribcage. I'm not going to miss in the middle of that fat back."
