Humor Me This Riddler

Just been thinking after this series. The need for a power bat is something that the we all talk about. But.......Do we really need a bat?

After watching Pablo come alive and be hitting .340 (which is 2nd in batting in the NL) and he is sitting on 11 HR's, I am thinking we might have it right there.

Nate.....Hitting over .300! Had one taken away from Cameron last night (damn his D is good), but hit a one handed shot today to clear the fence.

I'd love to send Fred Lewis down and bring up Bowker. The kid can play LF, RF, and 1st. The kid is just plain raking in Fresno right now. Why not?

A lineup like this.

Rowand
Winn
Schierholtz
Sandoval
Molina
Ishikawa
Renteria
Downs (Frandsen) or someone traded
pitching spot.

Taken from other thread since this post is directly responsive to the inquiry:

How bad do we need a bat? Well, Nate solves RF and Pablo solves 3B. But there are glaring holes at 1B, 2B, SS and LF. So take your pick.

I am willing to let Downs stick it out at 2B, as he has been solid on D and showed some poer today. We can't really do anything at SS since $9M has gone to waste for this year and next. That leaves 1B and LF.

I like Ishi but he isn't consistent enough and would rather see him come in as a late inning replacement. Winn might hit .280 or .290 but he isn't providing any power, that is expected from a corner OF spot. One of those positions needs to be upgraded if not both. Hence, the right handed bat that Sabes keeps taking about.

Holliday would be nice, but too expensive and for only 1 year. Boras will be demanding $16-$18M per even though Holliday's numbers will not be reflective of that salary demand. I don't know of any other right handed LFers or 1B out there that are game changes and could be had without MadBum and Alderson.

Furthermore, it might be better to just stand pat and wait for next year. But be prepared to not make the playoffs under this scenario.

But why not putting Bowker into a platoon scenario with Ishi and have him get a few AB's in the OF.

SS is not going anywhere. Sabean paid wayyyyy toooo high for him.
2nd would be a upgrade if we can land someone, but Uggla. Isn't his avg. around .213 or something.

I am all for getting a 1B or 2B but who????

The rumor is that the Nationals are looking to swap outfielders in an attempt to "change the clubhouse" and get some "high character guys". Guys like Dukes and Milledge have a lot of baggage but either one could supply some of the right handed power that the Giants need.

Lewis for Dukes or Milledge straight up?

Just askin'

Ya know, I'd rather just trade Lewis away for some low level prospects. It's not that Freddie is a bad baseball player or that he is a bad Giant, it's just that I'd much rather have someone else than those two. More so, I'd rather have Bowker than those two.

I know that Milledge has severe potential, but we all know that Bowker can do it too.

Damn just dunno

Id do either one is a second
both better defenders right handed and I believe younger.....

Would it sour the clubhouse?
Let Molina and Rowand at em =)

True Merkin, but if we settle with Winn in LF, Rowand in CF, and Nate in RF, and have Torres hanging about (who I do like!), where would Miledge or Dukes fit in????

Both have screaming mad potential....Man...Errrr...Maybe I am so sold on our youth now and not others?
