I like Ishi's D and if he can hit 20 homers and hit .260 I will take it.
Agreed and that's why Sabean needs to deal Molina too.
Or if the Giants acquire an outfielder then Sabean needs to deal Winn (who I checked is just on the cusp of being a Type A Free Agent this off season whereas Molina is firmly a Type A).
Any move that the Giants potentialy make probably means somebody needs to also be moved, demoted, or let go, e.g., DFA Aurilia.
Finally, if the Giants fall short on trying to acquire V-Mart then I could see them going after someone like Ryan Doumit. Again, the guy can catch, play 1b and RF and bat fourth in the lineup. He currently is on the DL but could probably be acquired for less than V-Mart and is under team control for the next few years.
The best news is we now have confirmation that indeed the Giants are "looking" to find a bat. Whether or not Sabean can find one without giving up the farm is another thing. I just pray to Bonds, that he doesn't do something stupid, e.g. another AJ/Nathan or Accardo/Hillenbrand deal.
Just sayin'

Wait, Ishi is emerging cause he has hit a couple of homers? First base is a position that you need production from, and his 0.730 OPS is just not going to cut it. He may be a slick fielder, but VMart is no slouch. Ishi still K's way too much and is not an everyday player imo. He's just the best we have at the moment.
Yes, he Ks a lot but the point is, he is doing better. Hell, Dunn Ks 200 times a year. If he can play gold glove D, which he does, and hit 20 homers I will take it. But this is assuming that we upgrade at another position (LF).
And I am not saying Ishi has solidified his spot in the lineup. He needs to be consistent at least through the All-Star break. Otherwise we need to take a look at that spot.

Who says they have to trade Ishi? By acquiring someone like V-Mart or Doumit, guys who can play more than one position, this gives Bucket even more flexibility with his lineup. Bochy could do more double switching throughout the game or give guys more time off to rest. Heck, V-Mart sucks at first so the Giants would love to have Ishi around for his defense, e.g. start the game with Molina behind the plate and V-Mart at first. When Molina gets on base later in the game, swap him out with someone who can run, move V-Mar behind the dish and have Ishi play 1B. Currently, the team just doesn't have that kind of flexibility.
There are a ton of ways this team can go that can add flexibility and needed pop to the lineup. Today's team the pieces just don't seem to fit and lacks real flexibility.

I agree and stand pat on my Ishikawa-stance. He is getting pt now and is looking like a quality starter. He has gold glove potential, and I just don't see the point in replacing him right now.
Why don't we trade for Mark Teahan like many have suggested on this board already. He plays 1B, 2B, and 3B and fits well with this team. I think Teahans bat could come along as well, as his HR totals are starting to go up. He wouldn't cost us Alderson.

i really would like to see Bowker get a shot at the of spot that Winn is taking up. I know AAA numbers are misleading but the giants are never going to know if Bowker has what it takes till they bring him up and start him.

First, I never said they had to trade ishikawa. Jut put his ass on the bench where it belongs.
Second, You guys are all talking as if Victor Martinez sucks complete donkey balls at first base. The reality is that his fielding numbers are not that much different from Ishikawa's. While Travis is better defensively, he's NOT so substantially better that it would be a detriment to the team to bench him in favor of a guy who has 25-30 HR power.
Plus, that "streak" Ishi's on is quite the reason to hold off on a Martinez trade. His .235 average over the past 7 days just SCREAMS that he's turning the corner. Or was it the identical .235 average he has over the past 14 days that's making you guys think that he's the real deal?

Re: Rumor Central
Wait, are there people against the idea of the Giants acquiring Victor Martinez because of Travis Ishikawa? That's like not wanting to acquire Kenny Lofton in 2002 because of Shinjo. But worse.
