One more thing: Victor Martinez is a switch hitter and CRUSHES lefties, so it's not like he should be platooned with the light-hitting Ishikawa.
And since Benjie hits lefties better than righties, moving VMart to catcher on days that a lefty throws is not a really good idea either.
Victor Martinez >>>>>>>>> Travis Ishikawa

Wait, are there people against the idea of the Giants acquiring Victor Martinez because of Travis Ishikawa? That's like not wanting to acquire Kenny Lofton in 2002 because of Shinjo. But worse.
To be fair, I didn't want to acquire Kenny Lofton, but it wasn't because of Shinjo. It was because I have an irrational hatred of Kenny Lofton (it's a fantasy baseball thing).
The ONLY time in my life that I liked Kenny Lofton was when he was a member of the SF Giants - specifically in the playoffs. It also helped that I had long since removed Lofton from my fantasy baseball radar and refused to own him for any reason.

You are such a girl.
And Eric Hinske was just trade by the Pirates to the Yankees for two minor leaguers who likely will never see AAA. And reports out of Pittsburgh also indicate a Nyjer Morgan/Lastings Milledge deal is about to go down.

Re: Rumor Central
I cant believe I just read a post from a Giants fan that would rather have Travis Ishikawa at 1st base than Victor Martinez
when I read that I wonder if this guy actually watches baseball or even knows who Victor Martinez is

It's almost like some people have not been watching the last couple of weeks.
Ishikawa is one of the main reasons we have won many of the games, other than of course the great pitching and Panda. His defensive plays on the Timmy play, as well as the Uribe play are plays many other 1B botch or screw up.
While Martinez is superior to Ishikawa on offense, I think Ishikawa is far superior to Martinez on defense. Ishikawa's bat is solid enough, why give up Alderson or Madbum for him? You know he's costing one of the two and probably Sosa, Noonan, and Neal.

This is like a bazarro Snow/Minor/NmaeOenTmie situation.

No way Sabean gives up MadBum or Alderson, let alone Noonan or Sosa.
So who does Sabean give up? Not much. Look the Giants are probably one of about four teams that can take on significant salary this year(Boston, Dodgers, and the Brewers are the other teams). If I'm Sabean I tell other teams that in exchange for dumping salary, the Giants are not going to give up any top prospects. Otherwise, I think this team has shown that it can compete and the Giants continue along their path of rebuilding the team internally. Screw trading for a guy if it is going to be a kings ransom. Sabean should have a lot of leverage here and he should give in to it.
Just sayin'

why is everybody so high on Noonan? I keep waiting for this guy to show something in the minors but he has shown squat.
anyway I doubt Cleveland would trade Martinez without getting a pair of top prospects, so it is a moot point.
