Noonan had a decent track record until this season, and he's only 15 months younger than Big V. But I'd be willing to let him go.

Re: Rumor Central
"Dye's contract includes a $12 million mutual option for 2010 that becomes a player option if he is traded. The Sox would receive two draft picks if Dye stays with the Sox but his option isn't picked up and he leaves for free agency.
Last week, Williams discussed a scenario in which the Sox could acquire a younger player that could be interpreted as a "they've thrown in the towel" move but would be viewed by the team as a neutral deal for 2009 with a bigger upside the following three seasons....
....The Giants have significantly upgraded their farm system the last two years."

Or how about bye bye Lewis? (he seems more like a Williams "type" of player).
Not that I'm advocating trading for Dye. Dye would have been great as a Giant....five years ago.
Just sayin'

Wait, are there people against the idea of the Giants acquiring Victor Martinez because of Travis Ishikawa? That's like not wanting to acquire Kenny Lofton in 2002 because of Shinjo. But worse.
Pengy, please don't use the Shi** word around here.
There is no need to go there. Use something less offensive instead, such as dirty ****, or long live Hitler.

Now there's a fantasy I could get behind.
Then Nate could take over for Winn next year.
An OF of Nate Rowand Dye would be.. uhh.. better than Lewis Rowand Winn.

Nate isn't going anywhere the play he has been playing. Just sayin'.
If the Giants trade for an OF, Lewis will most likely be either part of the deal or part of another deal.

This time every year the worst GM in the MLB, aka Brian "Worthless" Sabean of the Giants, talks of trading for a bat just to appease fans. Being smart like most hardcore Gigante fans we know that this is bull and nothing but talk to make us think he is actually doing his job. There has been talk that the Giants scout went to the Indians-White Sox game to scout Jermaine Dye and Victor Martinez. They definitley could use an OF and have needed a 1B since Snow (ok wow!) and are willing to offer piching help along with prospects. Again not going to happen. Although Dye is Sabean's ideal player (old, aging and in the last year of his deal beffore mutual option) this will not happen because no one wants SF's crap. I would love V-Mart but again not happening. Look at reasoning above. The Giants are just one step above the Pitt Bucs in reference to management and GM capability.

Not that I'd defending Sabean but I just have a hunch that this year could be different.
Plus the Buc's GM made a decent trade today. So maybe there is hope for Sabean?
