If Winn is on this team, we cannot just sit him. Winn has started his entire career in SF, why would anything change now. I understand Dye is a big power hitter, but Randy has stuck it through the bad times, and has done a solid job. He does not deserve to get delegated to 4th OF, because he is not hurting this team.
Here is a quote from Jason Stark today courtesy of MLBTR.com:
The Giants need an impact hitter and they're "in on every bat out there."
I like that news. Whatever Sabean decides to do I will stick by it. As long as he does not even think about dealing Bumgarner, I am okay. It's in his hands now!

This sentiment which is one that Sabean also holds, is one reason the Giants haven't been more successful over the past few years. It's not just a detriment with roster decisions, but also with contract negotiations. Making veterans offers that don't embarrass them is a Sabean strategy that he has publicly favored, and has been the cause of millions of wasted payroll dollars.

This is what made Bill Walsh such a great GM -- better to get rid of a player a year too early rather than a year too late.

Couldn't disagree more. Insisting on playing Winn is only compounding the mistake of signing him in 2006. Whether Winn has always been a starter or whether he's stuck it out doesn't change the fact he's the third least productive RF in baseball right now. Right field really should be an offensive first/defense second position. Perhaps AT&T demands a better defensive RF than your average park, but Winn's offensive contributions are at the core of what ails this team.

He may not be hurting the team, but Dye would be a hell of a lot more helpful than Winn has been. This is the big leagues, if you don't produce you ride the pine. Winn is a professional and understands that. If it became a problem, they could always dump him for prospects.
Besides, Winn as a 4th OF assumes Nate remains hot and that Rowand remains healthy.

Winn does have a NTC, so just dumping him might be tougher than it seems.

Good point but I think being relegated to a 4th OF role would be enough motivation for him to waive it. If not, ride the pine.

I have zero clue of what the Indians wants or needs are.....but an offer of:
Bowker/Valdez/Sanchez for Martinez?
Too much? Too little? Not enough?

Not bad, but it depends on how they view Bowker which would probably come down to firsthand scouting. Is Bowker Nelson Cruz or Damon Minor?

I'd say not enough. I think it would take a top-tier pitching prospect to get Martinez. If not a top-tier then a couple of solid pitching prospects like Sosa.
