Tanner and Barnes are also decent trade bait. Not great but decent.

Travis Ishikawa is NOT a competent first baseman.

Bowker/Valdez/Sanchez for Martinez?

Too much? Too little? Not enough?

I'd say not enough. I think it would take a top-tier pitching prospect to get Martinez. If not a top-tier then a couple of solid pitching prospects like Sosa.

Gladly trade Sosa.....with the way Romo is pitching and the way Joe Martinez was before the injury.....

Winn does have a NTC, so just dumping him might be tougher than it seems.

Winn has a limited no-trade clause (he may block deals to 10 clubs)

I don't know about that. The trade value of middling prospects is directly related to how much talent the Pirates have left to offer, and Pittsburgh's just about blown its load.

I'd gladly "settle" for Adam LaRoche......I know they are talking Right Handed Bat....Rowand, Molina, Renteria all RH, Pablo pretty even split.....Schierholtz even minor league splits only a small and 2008-09 data show better # vs Lefties......2nd Base, Frandsen, Uribe....Right handed
Ishikawa....hell riding pine if we get LaRoche........

I add English to that list, a little old for his level but not so old that he doesn't have any value.

Since LaRoche is a FA at the end of this year, I wouldn't give up much for him. I think he is a Type B FA at this time so he has little value if someone offers him arbitration and he signs else where.

Personally, I could see the Giants taking LaRoche as part of a package, maybe with another player like Sanchez or Doumit for Molina and a few mid level prospects.

I think the Pirates could be prime to deal several more players, some of which could be of use to the Giants.

Just sayin'

The Pirates definitely aren't done dealing. They still have three players who will be FA at the end of the season (Adam LaRoche, John Grabow, and Jack Wilson), one player with a hefty club option (Freddy Sanchez), a closer who likely has more value to another team (Capps), a catcher who they seem to be growing impatient with his inablity to remain healthy (Doumit), and two starting pitchers who they may consider unloading (Maholm and Duke). I would be surprised if all those guys are still Pirates on August 1st.

As far as Adam LaRoche, depending on what he does the remainder of this season, he may not even be a Type B FA. Regardless, I still say his price tag is low. He's not as good offensively as some of the other bats rumored (Dunn, Holiday, Victor Martinez, Berkman, Dye, etc). So I just can't see a team giving up much for LaRoche when the could have one of those guys.

And I know Thrill keeps throwing out Molina, but I just don't see why the Pirates would have the slightest interest in him. If you look at all the trades Neal Huntington has made, it's always for guys under 30 and mostly it's minor leaguers. Considering they've already got Jason Jaramillo and Robinzon Diaz in Pittsburgh and literally four catchers in the minors who could at worst be serviceable backups, Molina makes little sense to me. Then again, Neal Huntington thinks the recipe for a winner is catchers and hard throwing relievers who have a hard time getting batters out.

But I do think the Giants have what the Pirates want and that's pitching.

By the way, how crazy is it that the Pirates have traded away FOUR starting outfielders in under a year? I don't even think the Florida Marlins accomplished that.

Will Carroll tweeted that both the White Sox and Giants wanna make a quick deal. Not with each other though.
