The Magick Of Yule
The Magick of Yule
On my way to town one day,
I sighed in disbelief
a tattered man sat on the curb
in tears of pain and grief.
I thought perhaps a dollar bill
would help him on his way
from somewhere in the distance
I heard the Goddess say,
I know I've shown you better,
I taught you how to share,
you have so much to offer,
just tell him that you care.
Sit right down beside him
and ask what can you do
the spirit of the season
rests in the heart of you.
He weeps because he's hungry,
and you have jam and bread,
You have a little cottage,
he has no roof above his head.
His babies have no comforts
no wreath upon their door
so if your home is humble,
make room for several more.
There'll be no Christmas pudding
nor candles all a glow
but his children are so little,
he hopes maybe they won't know.
But Yuletide is a magick time,
tis the dark before the light
Goddess grant him peace and love
this winter solstice night.
I raise my glance toward the sky,
and whisper Blessed Be
for all the things I never saw
until he came to me.
I'm thankful that you put him there
sitting huddled in my way
So I may see the blessings
that you grant me each new day!
