Slowly the year wanes. The Sun still shines brightly, but less and less so each day.

During autumn and winter, some people feel lethargic and depressed due to insufficient light. You can counter the effects of this seasonal light-loss by capturing the thick golden light of an autumn afternoon, when the Sun is still powerful yet attuned to the dark part of the year.

For this, you will need an Austrian crystal prism. String it on beading wire along with golden or, if you can find them, sun-shaped beads. Go outside and hold the prism up to the Sun.

Now repeat the following:

Sun of honey and gold,
Sun of barley and grass,
Shine in crystalline glass.
Enter this charm I hold!

Keep the charm aloft until your arm gets tired. Then hang it in your window.

When you need a reminder of the Sun, touch the prism to make it spin and sparkle.
