posticon Back To Oklahoma

My Mom is not doing well. My father died a little over two yearss ago. My Mom and Dad had been married for 62 years. Mom has felt so alone since loosing Dad that I think she has given up on the ehab doing her any good and maybe life itself.

My last few calls to her have ended with me in tears. She doesn't seem like she appreciates my sister or I calling her anymore, she is depressed and wants to be left alone.

I am taking my 12 year old Grandson with me this trip so I will not have that horrid drive across Arkansas by myself. I am hoping that the sight of a great grandson will help Mom snap out of some of her depression.

We are leaving some time tomorrow. Hopefully, I will be back around June 24, give or take a day or two one way or the other.

I will have access to Moms old and slooooow computer so will check in every two or three days.

Please keep my Mom and me in your thoughts and wish me safe travel again.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: Back To Oklahoma

Thank you for your kind words; NightGoddess, Lilafae and Zonipa. Also, thank you to those of you who have sent cards and notes of cheer to my Mom during this horrid time for her.

The Grandson and I made the trip just fine. We got here approximately 12:30 this morning. It took exactly twelve hours but an half hour of it with being hasseled by an Arkansas Highway Patrolman.

The story is, before dark, I was driving between 87 and 85 miles per hour. After dark, I ran into some rain and slowed down. The Patrolman said he stopped me for speeding. I told him I didn't realize I waa speeding. He said, oh, yes, I was. He said when I passed him (never actually knew I had passed him, guess he was hid on an entrance ramp or something as I was on I-40 going across Arkansas. He said when I passed him, I was going 73 miles per hour and when he finally caught up with me, I was going 71 miles per hour. Not get this, the speed limit was 70. People were passing me going 90. I guess he couldn't catch them. My grandson was asleep with his seatblelt on. The officer decided that maybe I had kidnapped this little boy and had him drugged as Zade my grandson) is very hard to wake up and when he does get woke up, he isn't in the greatest moods. The officer finally got him awake but not before Zade screamed out as loud as he could "GET THAT LIGHT OUT OF MY EYES." At the same time, he attacked the officers arm and flashlight. I thought, Oh, no, we are going to jail now. I got a warning ticket and told when in Arkansas, I would obey their state laws. I sort of wished I had gotten a ticket. I think it would have been fun to go to court for one and three miles an hour over the speed limit.

Back to my Mom. We waled in and she was sitting in a wheel chair. My Sister in law was there and combing her hair. Mom looked good. It was the first time I had seen her sitting up since the day show broke her leg and was sitting in her chair waiting on the ambulance. She seemed in good spirits, had decided to do some rehab as advised and is hoping she will be able to use her leg and come home within the next three or four weeks. I don't know if that will happen but am hoping for the best. My grandson pushed her to the dinning room and we had dinner with her. They only charge guest three dollars. The meals really aren't worth that but it gave us time to sit and chat over dinner with Mom so worth the six dollars. After we left, Zade and I stopped by Chick Fila as we were still hungry.

Any, I may not say it often enough but I appreciate and value the friends I have been making here. Thankis for thinking about me and for your kind words regarding my Mom.

Blessed Be.

Having being born and living in Arkansas most of my life... I have to say thank goodness Saberune moved me to Missouri.
Don't feel bad FC, there is (at least) one arkie cop on every corner & they love to pick on everyone.

I'm glad to hear you both arrived safely. I'll keep you all in my thoughts & prayers... hopefully, your mom will continue on the road to a full & happy recovery.

Many Blessings!

Mom seems to have adapted a new attitude and has decided se will stay in rehab for another four to six weeks if it takes it. She has started working harder when it comes to her therapy. I am trying to spend as much time with her as I can, have had dinner with her two or three nights. One night, she said she was sick of the food up there (I don't blame her as it isn't the best food on earth) so I took up hamburgers for us both and we ate in her room.

My Grandson left for a camping retreat tonight so will not be back until Friday night so the place seems quiet without him.

We had dinner tonight with my brother and his wife. We had sloppy joes made with antelope meet. I had wanted to try it as I have never had antelope before. It was good.

Thanks for your sweet thoughts and blessings. I will probably head back toward Alabama about next Tuesday.

Hope all is well with you all.

Re: Back To Oklahoma

I am still in Oklahoma. My Mom has gotten tired of the bland meals they feed her so I've been going up late in the afternoon and carrying her dinner. We had hamburgers one afternoon, chicken sandwiches another and a chicken wing snack this afternoon. She seems to enjoy our meals and our time together. I am so glad of her new attitude.

My Grandson went on a camping trip with nine other kids his own age and my nephew and his wife. They left on Monday and will be back tomorrolw so I've been mostly by myself when not with Mother. I wish I had brought more of my divination supplies with me. It is very quiet here at night and I could have worked on some things.

Mom's home is out in the country with my brother and his wife right next door. We had acoyete come right up to the back deck the o ther night. We have heard them a far off but never seen them come this close. I think all the adult rabbits on the property have had little ones as there are baby bunnies hopping everywhere.

Not really much interesting to write about, just thought I would check in with you. If all goes well, will be heading back to Alabama on Tuesday or Wednesday this next week.
