We need your input on MyStores!

As most of you know when you click on the 'View a users store' on the main page it will take you to the following page:

OOAK Member Stores

We are thinking of deactivating stores that do not list anything within a 45 day period. Members will not lose their membership, but the stores will be closed. When we visit that page I would prefer most stores to have at least one item listed. This helps visitors to realize that this is an active site emoticon

What do you think? Should we deactivate stores that do not have items listed after a 45 days?



edited to add: This is not so much a problem now, but as we grow many new stores will be opened. Unfortunately, most stores will be left unattended and wither away emoticon

Your proposal makes sence to me. I would think anyone who didn't have an item in their store over a 45 day period, really isn't interested in having a store or doesn't need their store. I voted yes.

I am assuming if a member wanted their store back at a later date and their was room for another store, that they would be able to reapply for store priviledges. As with any rule,

I assume exceptions could be made if one wrote to the site administrator and explained they would be in Europe on business for the next two months but wished to keep their store.

Just my input, am sure some others may feel differently.

Yes, they will be able to reactivate their store anytime. As long as they keep items in it, it will never be closed. Same rules would apply after reactivation.

Oh definitely! If someone would let us know of being gone for a few months we would be more than happy to keep the store active.

I did forget to add...

Another reason for keeping full stores on the site is for new members/visitors just checking things out. I don't want them to visit a lot of stores that are empty and get discouraged. This could drive sales away from members who have a lot of items listed.

A big thank you goes out to all those who took the time to vote or email us. We value the opinion from members on both sides. However, we have decided that we will deactivate empty stores after 45 days of non-activity. We will browse the stores from time to time. When we find an empty store we will make note of it. Each week it will be checked for items. If after 30 days it is still empty we will issue a non-activity warning. If after 45 days the store is still empty it will be closed on the 46th day. Stores that are deactivated may reopen at any time, but the same rules will apply. As FaerieChar mentioned, we will accept emails from those going away on vacation, etc. Keep in mind you must let us know of a date that you will be coming back.
