I've decided to make my own soy tarts
I just purchased my first soy candle making kit! I am going to specialize in Patchouli, Nag Champa, and Witches Brew (tho I haven't found that scent oil yet. Anyone know where to find it?) These are the scents I ordered with the kit:
Fragrance Sampler Pack: Choice of 10
#1 Asian Sandalwood
#2 Creme Brulee
#3 Fudge Brownie
#4 Maple & Brown Sugar
#5 Nag Champa
#6 Patchouli
#7 Vanilla Hazelnut
#8 Warm Vanilla Sugar
#9 Lemon Pound Cake
#10 Strawberries & Cream
The kit includes these scents:
Spruce Christmas Tree
Lilac
Fruit Slices
Cranberry Apple Marmalade
Downy Fresh
I melt soy tarts every single day, and I think it will be interesting and fun to make my own. I will probably sell some on my online shops and my OOAK site. I can't wait until next week when my kit comes. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I'm sticking to soy, I've found I prefer it to wax, it doesn't need to get as hot to melt, it smokes hardly at all with a proper warmer, and it's so much easier to clean up. I think it will be great!

Re: I've decided to make my own soy tarts
Congratulations on the new kit!
I've found several sellers on ebay that sell Witches Brew candle oil.
You may try there or try one of the sellers on PrimMarket or PrimMart (lots of candle & soap suppliers there).

Re: I've decided to make my own soy tarts
Thanks Z. I looked under Oils at OOAK, but no one has it. Bummer. Oh well, I haven't given up and I'll check out your suggestions.

Re: I've decided to make my own soy tarts
I just got an email telling me my candle kit will be delivered Nov. 20. I'm so happy I can't see straight. *does happy dances all over the place* I will blog about my new endeavor as I learn how to make my own soy candles/tarts. People have been telling me the cost of soy wax has doubled since last year but I found some on Amazon that was $1.69 for 2 pounds. Well that's what it said on the enlarged picture, 2 lbs. I ordered 2 and I hope it's as much as I think it is. I will be getting lots of goodies in the mail this week, I can't wait!

Re: I've decided to make my own soy tarts
I sent you a pm Pearlmoon. Thanks!
I made my first batch of candles today with Creme Brulee Scent. It was very easy, the only messy things were the dyes, it took forever to scrub the blue out off my hands as I spilled some. I didn't get Sandlewood, they sent me Pear instead. Oh well. It was an interesting hour or so and now my house smells so good. I am going to make my friends candles for Christmas, I'm going to go to thrift stores and dollar stores because they always have unusual jars or ceramic containers. It will also make each candle unique and a gift from my heart.
The kit is awesome, I got 12 lbs of soy wax with it, 15 scents, and 3 dyes plus all the other things necessary to make candles. I ordered a fluted tart mold so I can make 6 at a time, it was supposed to be delivered today, but it hasn't come yet. No matter, I had fun and now I have a new hobby! I might even sell them eventually in my online shops, we'll see.
