 Why This?...
In Virginia's 6th Congressional District, there is a deaf man...let's call him "Bob." Deaf Bob has enjoyed a certain level of power and influence for 16 years. This position has not been seriously threatened for over a decade and Bob has grown rather comfortable, as anyone would.
In the same decade, grumblings began to rise up, first from the peanut gallery, then from the grassroots. These grumblings are about our tax structure, and a nationwide effort to drastically reform it for the better called the FairTax. Complacent and comfortable, Deaf Bob has not seen these grumblings as a threat, and has chosen to virtually ignore them. After all, they aren't coming from the majority of his colleagues in D.C., but from a small and unimportant segment of his constituency.
But the grumblings and murmurs in Bob's district have, in recent years, become more than just calls for action. They have become the sound of but one gear in the nationwide political machine that cries out for true tax reform. As more and more people realize the detriment our current tax code is to our nation, the cries become increasingly louder and more insistent.
The time for action is now, before it's too late. Together, all of the "small, unimportant" people can stand on Deaf Bob's shoulders, fire up their bullhorns, and shout "FairTax Now!" All of the fingers in ears and loud inward humming in the world cannot refuse to hear a large enough group.
That group is us, our voices and votes DO count, and we have a duty to demand a representative who will represent us, not just on issues he chooses to act on, but on the issues we deem important. Let us send this message and add to the chorus by writing in "FairTax" for congress in the 6th district on November 4th.
