Re: Stop in, say hi and chat!
Morning all.
Hit, no I don't think we scream the loudest, we're just trying to be heard over all those crying 'Whoa is me'. Frankly I've made a TON of sacrifices in my life to HAVE the life I have. I opted to move away from family at age 21, I opted to live 3000 miles away from my nearest realative, Nick and I made a conscious decision NOT to have children because we KNEW we could not survive on one income and I don't have 'Grandma and Grandpa' around the corner to babysit for me. Day care doesn't open at 5:30 in the morning and stay open until 6:00 at night. So you know what? Sure the coal miner or the deli worker deserves health insurance, but why should I pay for it.
Right back at ya about preaching and talking plain but frankly, I'm proud of what I've done with my life, and NONE of it was handed to me.
Now, on to this.... TGIF gang! Have a great one!

Re: Stop in, say hi and chat!
That MORNING GRAPHIC is for the Military families mourning at Fort Hood.....
And yes I damned sure do SMILE like the cat that ate the canary....because we ****in' EARNED that right. We "suffered" plenty. We spent all of 4 Christmas's together in 23 years of his service...and even less "other" holidays, birthdays, anniversaries...matter of fact he BARELY made it there for the birth of his son.....
WE EARNED the right to have that BENEFIT! I don't give a damn if the Government wants to make sure everyone has coverage...but I sure as hell don't want to PAY (in money, longer waits, crappier doctors ETC)for all those who for whatever reason, can't or won't pay for they're own.
OH AND PAY WE WILL...
Subject: PASS THIS TO ALL MILITARY RETIREES
This is true. It is on pages 77, 172, 218, and 434. You have to dig to
see the charges. We (retirees) would lose the Medicare for life
benefit and would have to pay. We would lose TRICARE as a total care
package. We would not be allowed to keep TRICARE so when Obama stands
and says if you like what you have you can keep it, He lies.
This is a "Heads Up" on a battle we are facing now and down the road
with the new Administration. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has
already drafted proposed legislation that would basically reduce our
TRICARE for Life benefits to a system whereby we pay deductibles and
co-pays up to $6,301 the first year for you and your spouse, with
future years being indexed to increase with inflation.
What can we do? The article below, obtained from an Air Force
Association and written by BG Bob Clements, best describes what we can
do. Please read it and check the links for CBO language and do what
Bob says-Send this email to every Military Retiree you know and write
and email your Congressman often.. For those of you that might have
voted for "Change", you should do it more than often!
TRICARE FOR LIFE'S FUTURE....
TRICARE For Life was instituted to correct the broken promise that
military retirees would receive free healthcare coverage for life and
it covers the Medicare co-pay. Now a heavy assault has begun on
Veterans'/Retirees' benefits to pay for other programs our President
promised during the campaign. And it is a high priority of his
administration. The one item of most interest to Retired Military is
in Article 189. If approved by Congress the first assault wave would
hit in 2011 and would hit hard. It would initiate cost sharing to
require retirees to pay the first $525 of medical cost and 50% of the
next $4,725 for a first year cost of $2,888 per person. It would be
indexed to increase with inflation. A reason given for this action
(for PR effect) is "overuse" by Retirees.
For those of you who are covered by TFL you will want to pay
attention (Below) to what BG Bob Clements has surfaced about the
future of TFL. In any case, on page 189 of the Congressional Budget
Office report, see the note below on how to get to that spot, there is
a strong recommendation to eventually eliminate the program as it is
too expensive. Just another move to slight those of us who dedicated
much of our adult lives to the defense of our country.
Strongly recommend that you contact your elected officials and
register your strong opposition to the elimination of the TFL
program. Heads-up from BG Bob Clements, USAF Ret The following has
been added to the Congressional Budget Office.
THEY TOUCH that "BENEFIT"...and I guarantee millions of military members WILL be up in arms. And those who are "sitting on the fence" about to re-enlist or not..WILL NOT...our Armed Forces will diminish like never before...they will have to reinstate the draft...

Re: Stop in, say hi and chat!
Ok, first off...I never meant to come off like I was crying "woe is me". I made a CHOICE to work for myself and I'm HAPPY with that choice. I don't like that the escalating cost of health insurance made it impossible for me to afford it, but I understand and I've been living without it for years now. I don't expect anyone else to pay for my coverage. I'd be happy to pay for my own, as long as I could afford to do so. And the absolute last thing I'd want is for anyone else to lose their existing coverage for me to get mine...ESPECIALLY those in the military. As Queeny said, they EARNED that right. I'll defer to them any and every time...no questions asked.
Everyone has made choices in their lives and they deserve the right to be happy and comfortable with those choices. I DO have a "real" job, bec...it just doesn't require me to sit in an office and commute several hours every day, doesn't mean it's not legitimate. And I have all the respect in the world for the folks who do commute every day and work long hours...I don't know how you do it. I meant it when I said good for you...wasn't being sarcastic. I'm GLAD you have a good benefits package...I wouldn't begrudge you that for a second. You too have earned that with your blood, sweat and tears...more power to you.
I'm not looking to be handed anything on a silver platter...I had a job which included a health insurance package and I made the choice to give that up to TRY and make a living doing what I love. I don't make excuses for that. We all make our choices. I just think we ALL deserve to be fairly treated, that's all.
Now then...can we please take this discussion to the other board?
Love your daily graphic and I'm loving another great day. Hope everyone's got a great weekend lined up.
I'm off to finish catching up and get writing. Have a good one, all!

Re: Stop in, say hi and chat!
Happy Saturday, all!
Hope everyone's having a good one. It's sunny but COOL here. We had our first frost last night.
I'm busy doing housework...typical Saturday...or rather avoiding doing it by hanging out online!
Have a good one, all!
