Joe Wilson Voted To Provide Taxpayer Money For Illegal Immigrants' Healthcare
Posted by Mehret Tesfaye | September 12th, 2009 at 12:35 pm |
On Wednesday night, Rep. Joe Wilson [R, SC-2], shouted “You lie!” at President Obama when he said that the healthcare bill would not cover illegal immigrants. “The supporters of the government takeover of healthcare and liberals who want to give healthcare to illegals are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan,” Wilson said the next day in a campaign fundraising video.
However, in 2003, Wilson voted to provide federal funds for illegal immigrants’ healthcare. The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.
--- 2009, it just keeps getting better and better. Just ask David Wright..

Classy Republican Joe Wilson humiliates himself yet again
Oh right...Republicans are the spawn of Satan and Democrats have never done anything wrong. And I'M the one grasping at straws?! Pot, meet kettle.
And Hit...you can stand by it all you want, but there was NOTHING remotely racist about that exchange and the more you and others stick to that stance the more you cheapen anything and everything the President says and does. So please...be my guest.
And as for yelling at the boss in a meeting...no, you're right, it doesn't make a lot of sense if your goal is to keep your job. But how many of us have WANTED to yell at the boss? Most Congressmen are wealthy enough that they don't have to worry about their jobs, so they can take the risk the rest of us can't. I still say more power to him.
You two are really amazing...you claim WE'RE the ones who are blinded yet you are so quick to jump on anything you can find to prove the other side wrong and back "your man". Funny how that works.

So when you get frustrated while you're stuck in traffic and yell "BASTARD!" at the person in front of you who is jamming everyone else up, do you back that up with a source?
Come on...it's called losing your cool...happens to the best of us. The man just couldn't stand listening to another pretty song and dance covering up all the holes in Obama's policy, so he vented. I don't fault him for not citing chapter and verse while he did so. He's human. Even if the timing of his outburts was a little off, that doesn't excuse the fact that this healthcare policy is a lame piece of **** that will NOT do what the Democrats claim it will in terms of helping the American people who need healthcare. So he chose the wrong point to single out, the overall response was still right on the money.

Classy Republican Joe Wilson humiliates himself yet again
Ok, I can see this whole debate has left the realm of reasonable.
I don't know what "rallies" you're talking...nor do I know what you mean about racist Christmas songs. Nor do I want to know.
Do I believe there are people out there not happy to have a black man in the White House? HELL YES...probably more than anyone would care to admit. But does that negate any argument thrown against the man because it's ALL "obviously" racism? HELL NO.
It's that kind of thinking that really pisses me off.
Oh and Reese...what kind of healthcare policy would be acceptable? How about one that allows ME, as a taxpaying U.S. citizen who works for herself to go to the damn doctor...of MY choice...when I'm sick without it having to put me in debt up to my ears? That's all I'm asking for. And as of yet, I haven't heard a damn thing proposed on EITHER side that covers folks like me.
The current proposal would FORCE me to pay for health insurance I can't afford...or include it in my taxes if they decide to go that route. Either way, I'm royally screwed. And right now I'm living on spit and a prayer HOPING I don't get seriously ill because I have no way of paying for it. I'd just like SOME kind of feasible solution...that's all! I have yet to hear one.
