“That’s beside the fact. Well are you going to get some wood for the fire or what?”
Sean saluted and said, “Yes maim.” He Ran off to go find some fire wood in a military like march.
“Does he ever take anything serious?” Asked Wren
“No, not really, that’s why we love him. Wren, how in the world are you expecting to cook those eggs with out a pan?” asked Erik
“That’s for me to know and for you to find out. Now why don’t you make your self useful and start packing up. We still have a little ways to hike ya know!” With out another word she bound off into the surrounding woods.
‘Why does she always do that?’ Erik wondered as he started packing up the sleeping bags. Ever since he could remember Wren was always taking charge and never told anyone any more than they needed to know. That was just Wren for ya, always keeping the details to her self. Not that he minded. Wren was a brilliant person. She always seemed to know how to do things that to him just did not seem possible. Never seem the shock Sean much though. Although Sean could never see Wren the way he did, she was just so beautiful and talented to him. Her hair was almost a brown color in the shadows but as soon as she stepped into the light it turned this richly colored maroon. She was tan but not like Sean. It was almost like no matter how long she stayed in the sun her skin would never be more than a light tan. She had strange ears though. Erik had only seen them once because they were always behind her hair. She seemed quite shocked that he had seen them too. They were pointed almost. Not near what he had imagined the fantasy creature the elves would have, but still it made him wonder. Although not near as much as he wondered about her eyes. She seemed to be able to see in the dark at times or she could see through the foggiest of days. What he loved most was how they changed color, or at least they seemed to. Most he time they are a dark blue but every now and again they changed this dark green and others they would be a gray color. It was almost like they changed with the weather. Only once did he ever see her eyes change purple. She was furious at something; he couldn’t remember what, just that dark purple in her eyes.
“Day dreaming again I see.” A voice said from behind him. Erik spun around so quickly that he almost fell over his own feet. “Don’t do that!”
“Sorry Erik, didn’t mean to sneak up on you or anything.” said Sean as he dumped the firewood on the ground. He looked around for a second and asked, “Where has Wren run off to now?”
“Oh she ran off after I asked her how she was going to cook those eggs of her’s”

“Ah, off to make a rocet I guess.”
“A Rocet?”
“Yeah, you take a flat rock and chip a bit of it away in the middle so the eggs don’t fall off. Then you just put it on top of the fire with the eggs and you got your self a rocet. It sounds weird but I didn’t name it or anything.” explained Sean as he started stacking the firewood.
“Ah, you spoiled my surprise.” Both the boys jumped this time only to find Wren had snuck up behind them with her rocet she had made.
“I swear you to are to easy to sneak up on. You really should pay more attention out here. What if I were a Kaman Bear or something? You two should know we are in Kaman Bear country.” commented Wren almost jokingly. But she was right. If she was a Kaman bear they would be in real trouble. Neither one of them was prepared to deal with one of those. They blended in forests and rocks so well you usually never knew they where their.
“Yeah your right, to think something that large can hide itself in plain sight. You know how we get when we want to have fun we sometimes forget the detals.” Said sean.
“Well you shouldn’t forget about that one at least”
From there they all pretty much went to their tasks. Sean built up the fire while Wren and Erik packed up the rest of camp. After Wren then went to cooking the eggs while Erik gathered berries and Sean gathered the roots. Sean had taught Erik what berries was good to eat and which were not. Erik was a fast learner but he still hadn’t gotten the nack at the roots yet but he was sure he would learn very soon. Sean had taught Erik many things about the outdoors and Erik had taught him many things about the cities. It seemed to be a fair trade. After all if you don’t learn something new everyday what was life about?
The rest of the morning was spent eating their filling breakfast and hiking to the Forests of Driton where the Fairies live. The three chatted and caught up on news from their cities and villages. Nain, you see, is on the east side of Apson while Sean’s farm and Leth, The village that Erik lived in, was on the west side. So they only got together maybe once or twice a year. Just as the sun was setting Sean looked to the northwest and saw neon black ray of swirling light shoot up into the sky. He looked to the others to say something but they were already staring at this odd site. When he looked back it was gone. Sean felt a feeling of dread come over him. He looked to the others speechless He didn’t need words to see that they were feeling the same way. Wrens mood however was a bit more determined. Why?
“What in all of Apson was that?!” asked Erik rather loudly. Neither could answer him and neither wanted to. It was nothing they have ever heard of or seen was anything like this. Then they heard the scream.
Thus ends chapter one

Ok i know i should have posted this first but yeah, well I wasn't finished with it yet. so here it is
Prologue
Kain walked the halls of the once great castle. The dust being disturbed with the passing of his dark robed form, no one had been here for a hundreds of years. Many don’t even know of its existence. His piercing black eyes scan the rooms and walls, looking at the decay of the once beautiful tapestries and rugs that decorated the castles rooms and halls. ‘Had it really been that long?’ He thought to himself. Time seemed so quick to pass him by. There was never enough time in the world, even for him. He was a wise man, seen many things, done what most could only ever dream of and yet he was just one in the long line of many. He was a Draconian, an ancient race going all the way back to the time of Angels and Demons. Draconians really are a mix breed and the strongest of the three. Draconians are elves with the wings of a giant eagle. Closer to the angel breed than the Demons of old. The Drakes however are closer to Demon side rather than the Angels of that time. Although these angels are demons are not what the people of the lands now think of angels and demons. No, they are much more than that. However first and foremost he is a Druid, a teacher and silent protector of the lands and he took his job very seriously. He had to.
Kain walked to the library. There lining the walls of this huge room where selves and selves of books. Some written recently by him, others dated back to the very beginning but very few indeed have survived that long. There were copies of the older books of course since they would not long survive much more but who wrote them and whether they had all of the information is what Kain had been looking into for a while now at least until a few hundred years ago. He had been wandering the lands recovering in some ways and looking to see what had changed in the four corners of the know world and a few of the unknown. He went village to village and through out the cities to learn what there was to learn and share some of his knowledge. Fixing things where it was needed and making friends in the process. Now, however, it was time to be back at Clune, His home and the home of the Druids. He was sure that the others would be here soon to talk of the disturbance that he had felt and the others had to of felt. At least if there were any of they left.

Wren looked back to the boys on the horses. They looked so confused. How was she to explain everything? The tree, the drails, and her being what she was. It might be best for them to see for themselves. She landed her Golden Roc a top the grass lain hill. Smells of grains and flowers filled the air around her. ‘This may be the last peaceful moment we have for a long time’ Wren thought to herself and took every second to enjoy it.
The boys came up behind her and stopped staring out into the forest at the bottom of the hill. In the very center was what the boys assumed was a mountain with a huge castle sitting a top the peak. “Boys this is Clune, home of the druids.”
“Can’t be,” said Erik in uttered disbelief.
“It can and it is. Now let’s go we have to get over there if we are to be safe.” With out another word Wren took to the skies once more and led them into the forest, she did not want to leave any time for questions just yet. As soon as they entered the trees it became humid and quite warm. It was like no place they had ever been before. The air was filled with fragrances that were quit foreign to the boys. They saw birds with long tails and very colorful feathers. They came in all colors reds, blues, greens, yellows, purples. Every one of them more beautiful that the last. Then he saw the biggest cat he had ever seen. It would have stood eye to eye with him if he was on the ground and it seemed like bits and pieces of it were disappearing and reappearing. It was orange with black stripes and glowing yellow eyes. It seemed to just ignore them and head off towards the castle disappearing completely with in the forest. ‘What is this place’ He thought to himself and before he knew it they were climbing a trial to the castle and the forest was gone.

“Wren so good to see you!” said Enya with much excitement. “I see you have done what is needed assuming these young ones are who I think they are. I knew I could count on you.”
“Thanks Enya. Sean, Erik, This is my mentor Enya, she is a Druid.”
“Pleased to meet you.” They said in unison, staring.
“I hope you don’t find this rude but, why are you all swirly and such?” asked Erik.
“Not at all my dear child, I am an Ephemeral. We all look like this.”
“I have only ever heard of them in stories I never knew they were real….. I’m sorry if that offended you.”
“Not at all, you will learn much is not just stories while you are here I suspect.”
“Wren is that another friend of yours?” asked Sean as he pointed to the door way.
“I believe he is though we have never met. Kain isn’t it?”
“Indeed and you are?” asked Kain raising one eyebrow. He stepped out from the shadows, he was very intimidating to the boys they had never seen someone with eyes like his. They seemed to see into them past their bodies and into their soul. Erik was not sure he liked the feeling.
“Wren, Enya’s apprentice; I have heard so much about you.”
“Wren you and your friends should follow me and Enya we have much to talk about and even more to do.”
Kain went up the stairs towards the library. He was closely followed by Wren who was also closely followed by Sean and Erik. Enya took up the rear and watched the very nervous looking boys, they were not what she expected but then she knew not to expect much. She was very sure they had no idea as to what was going on. Perhaps as time went on it was better to tell pieces of the story rather than dump it on them all at once.
Sean and Erik were fascinated by every thing there was to see. The old paintings, the tapestries, even the very castle its self seemed alive and watching. Once they reached the library their wonder only increased. They had never seen more that five books in one place as books where hard to come by. To see thousands of books just lining the wall of this room was enough to make them stop dead in their tracks. Enya let them have their moment, “Move along we don’t have all day.” called Enya.
“Oh sorry.” Sean apologized.
Kain faced the group, “Well we best get started. Enya why don’t you finish up what we were doing. I can put up everything while I explain what’s going on to the boys and Wren if need be.”
“Alright, just remember they might as well be from another planet in this place so have patience.” With that Enya ran down the stairs.

Kain walked over to a book shelf and moved a statue of a faun. The book case moved back and slide behind the other one. The group of three was mesmerized. Kain picked up one of the weapons that was already lying on the floor and started to put them all away on the shelves in the revealed room and as he did so he began to speak. “What I’m about to tell you is very important so listen well as I will not repeat myself and I will answer your questions only at the end… Long ago Apson was invaded by an unknown land. They were invaded by things called Drails. These drails are much like the demons from the scary stories your parents tell you about and the ones you see in your nightmares. They come in many forms just as the trolls do today only there are many more kinds. All the races came together to fight off this enemy it was the first time that all the races had come together for a common good and therefore a highly significant moment in history. There were elves, fairies, dragons, draconians, drakes, trolls, humans, gnomes, dwarves, ephemerals and many others. However it took them a long time to do so ignore the warnings because they didn’t trust one another, and even with that force they came up with in the end it was not long before the drails took over half our lands. The people of Apson had to think of something and fast. Using weapon smiths of the Dwarves, trolls, and gnomes plus the magic of the fairies, elves, draconians, and drakes they were able to give every creature a weapon that was perfectly designed to kill the Drails. However even then ground was lost and gained so many times it was impossible to say who was winning this war. So the best of every race got together to create the necklace of Sheal. Mean while small groups of infantry skirted around the forces and went deep into the eleven forests. With them they carried almost all the Drate there was….”

book in progress.
This time a large crash came behind them, everyone jumped and looked up to see Enya returning with a rather large amount of armor. ”Sorry, gonna need to take a second trip with this stuff, There is so much of it!” She giggled and with that she was gone once more.
“Never a dull moment with that woman I’ll tell ya.” With that he finished putting away the bags and went over to open yet another bookshelf. This time moving what anyone would have thought to of been a book but it was made of water or at least what looked like water. In this room where not shelves but manikins of all the different races, even some he did not know existed. Kain started to put on all the armor on the appropriate manikin and went on with the story. “Where was I? Oh yes. The plan was simple. They would capture each powerful individual in a magic stone called a lorkee. There where many back then. Then they would then release them into the other dimension that was created for them sealing them away for a long time. During the confusion the main mass of our forces would push back the weaker drails behind the boarders. Then Krake, a master warlock of the time, would summon all the forces of nature to make a wall between our two worlds. It would be made of Smoke, wind and fog so thick to go into such a place would be to be lost forever. Also He summoned magical smoke begins named warefogs, not very creative I know, but they were to lead them back form whence they came as long as it was back on that unsuspecting beings side of the boarder. In return they had a place to live and no one would ever bother them and be safe from Trune Cats. You see they usually lived in the moors back then and a few of them still do and they constantly had to battle with Trune cats who thought them to be very tasty, so this sounded really nice to them and accepted the charge. Wonderful race of creatures they are. Don’t get me wrong though those warefogs can be one of the most dangerous things you may encounter in your life.”
Another crash came down but this time on one jumped “Sorry, here is the rest of it. I’ll be back with the very last load, hopefully” said Enya.
“Enya, do be careful with the last one you know how fragile those are.” asked Kain.
“Will do!” a voice down the hall said and a hand made of blue energy made thumbs up in the doorway and then disappeared.
“Won’t she ever sit still when I talk to her?” Kain said to him self as he continued his work “Alright, so battle after battle the magical beings captured the more powerful drails while the weapon and battle skilled races kept trying to push them back. Eventually it began to work. They pushed them back over a period of a year but when they finally got them where they wanted Krake summoned the powers only he possessed at the time. A wall of water and fire came up and when around our entire land. It then settled and became the smoke, fog, wind mixture it was meant to be and the warefogs ran in to do their part. Everyone spread out along the boarder and stood watch just incase one or two got out. Which a few did, but as the fog grew the fewer drails there were till none came through at all. After years of fighting it was finally over. They decided to go back to their own land and live out their lives but to make sure they would never have to go through such a tragedy again they made the druid counsel. They were to maintain the boarder and keep peace among the lands. Later the duties spread to teacher and historians as well as finding new technology. Krake was made the leader of the council and dubbed the Al’rune. The al’rune wore the necklace of Sheal, The power source to the tree and the boarders, if you know how to use it. It can also keep tabs on weakening spots of ether and fix them before any damage is done. This leads us to the light I’m sure you all saw, that would be a breach of our boarders, but by no more than a scouting troop I’m sure. How they managed to do it I’m not sure since the necklace has been missing and the person who knew how to wield it has been gone a hundred years. Which comes to you guys, the descendents of Krake, you will be of great help with all of this. For one you have the blood of Krake in you which makes it easier to wield such power.”
Kain started to lay out pillows on the floor. “I also have a book for you to read. It was written by Krake himself in case of such times. It explains how to use the necklace of shale and what obstacles you may encounter. Usually only the Al’rune gets to see this book but I think it would be ok at this point to read it as you may be our only hope.” The three looked at one another and then back to Kain, clearly confused. Kain open another book shelf by pushing several books as far back as they would go on the shelf there was nothing in there, at least for a second. Kain waved his hand and the walls turned blue and books on shelves began to appear. He took one out, handed it to Sean and waved his hand once more and everything disappeared, he closed the bookshelf door behind him. “Here read this while I finish putting away the last of the relics away and I will be here to answer all your questions. I’m sure you will have plenty.” With that Kain opened a bookshelf with moving and orb of trapped fire this time and went to work with Enya who apparently just got back dropping many stones onto the pillows. They placed them gently on empty shelves with tiny pillows and worked silently.
Thus ends chapter two.
