book in progress.

The slow breeze blew across through the forests tree tops. Rustling the leaves and spreading the lingering smell of spring with it, spring not quite wanting to let the summer take its place just yet. The coolness of that night had just set in and every thing seemed to know it. There were almost no sound but for the fire crackling and the random cricket chirp or owl hooting in the distance. It was nights like this that made Sean want to stay out here forever and live away from the villages. It wouldn't be a far jump from how he was living now out on the farm. He had always liked nature and resented the hustle of the villages that he had go and get supplies from time to time. He much preferred to be alone with the exception of Erik of course, He is his best friend after all. Erik on the other hand preferred the villages and cities. He liked to be busy and was one of those people who dose not like to be idle for very long.

Sean had met Erik when he was young making the trip into town for supplies with his parents and the two had become friends almost instantly. Since then and even far before that the family had been getting their supplies from that store almost every trip into town. Trading crops and cattle for what they needed.

Sean was a slender fellow with strikingly blue eyes that always seemed to be lost in some sort of a dream. He was tanned from working out in fields in the mid day sun and his light brown hair always seemed a tussle, no matter what he did with it. However the look suited him and he would have it no other way. Erik on the other hand was stocky and fair skinned with Green eyes that always seemed to know what was going on and Erik's, amazingly straight, blond hair had almost turned a dusty color from being inside all the time with no sun to bleach it with its rays. The two lived amazingly different lives and were so different from one another they wondered how somehow they turned into being such good friends. Neither was complaining of course that's just one of the many questions in life that the young men wondered about. Erik had just turned 19 while Sean at 18 still had almost a year to go to catch up to him in age so their minds where always a twitter with questions.

This night Sean and Erik had decided to go out camping and maybe hunt some deer if they came across one during their Hike across Apson. It was probably one of the only things Erik actually liked doing outside, even then week long trips where his limit. But the same could be said about Sean when it came to visiting the different cities. After a while Sean would just feel smothered by the city itself. He laughed to himself about the irony of it all as he looked into the dwindling camp fire. Erik had already fallen asleep at this point and was snoring away in his sleeping bag. Sean decided he had better fallow suit if he where to ever get up in the morning and go on his hunting-hiking trip. That thought was all it took before he was fast asleep.

Sean woke to start as he saw someone leaning over him with what seemed to be a dagger. It frightened him so much that he stood up with out remembering being in his sleeping bag and tried to run off. All he ended up doing was getting a mouth full of dirt and grass in the process. Laughter broke his panic and humiliation to a quick stop and he turned around just to realize who it was. It was just Wren, his cousin from Nain, one of the many villages of Apson. She was laughing so hard she had fallen over onto the ground. Erik Had joined her has he woke up and took a look at Sean half in and out of his sleeping bag with a face full of dirt. Sean on the other hand was still recovering from his fright and did not find it quite so amusing. He threw his pillow at her in retaliation so hard it knocked her clean off her feet.

“Never a dull moment with you two boys eh?” said Wren.

“Oh yes we are just a ton of laughs when you sneak up on people with a dagger.” replied Sean in a very sarcastic and irritated manner.

“Oh don’t be such a sour puss. Its fake, See…..” Wren commented has she knocked the wood dagger on the ground.

Sean just laughed and shrugged, “That’s what I get for leaving worms in your bed before I leave town.” Sean helped Avaren back up to her feet and brushed himself off while Erik recovered from his laughing fit.

“You look nice Wren.” commented Erik still giggling a bit from her prank. “Did you do something with your hair? You cut it from the last time I saw you didn’t you?”

“Yes I did actually, thanks for noticing.”

“Ah knock it off Erick. There is still no way you are getting with my cousin.” said Sean in a rather firm, yet joking voice.

“I think that is for her to decide don’t you think. Wren are you not going to say something?” asked Erik as he searched for the suddenly missing Wren.

“Keep me out of it. I want nothing to do with ether of your boy’s fantasies.” said Wren as she climbed up a tree.

“What are you doing up there?” asked Sean.

“Getting breakfast.” she shouted back as she looked into a few nests and climbed down with a total of seven eggs in her hand. “I have Dove eggs! We have enough of those things running around anyway.” She stated matter of factly.

“You always were thinking ahead. Now what are you doing here anyway?” asked Sean.

“I came down to visit you two only to find that you were gone. So I tracked you down and decided to scare the living daylights out of my favorite cousin.”

“I’m your only cousin.”

“That’s beside the fact. Well are you going to get some wood for the fire or what?”

Sean saluted and said, “Yes maim.” He Ran off to go find some fire wood in a military like march.

“Does he ever take anything serious?” Asked Wren

“No, not really, that’s why we love him. Wren, how in the world are you expecting to cook those eggs with out a pan?” asked Erik

“That’s for me to know and for you to find out. Now why don’t you make your self useful and start packing up. We still have a little ways to hike ya know!” With out another word she bound off into the surrounding woods.

‘Why does she always do that?’ Erik wondered as he started packing up the sleeping bags. Ever since he could remember Wren was always taking charge and never told anyone any more than they needed to know. That was just Wren for ya, always keeping the details to her self. Not that he minded. Wren was a brilliant person. She always seemed to know how to do things that to him just did not seem possible. Never seem the shock Sean much though. Although Sean could never see Wren the way he did, she was just so beautiful and talented to him. Her hair was almost a brown color in the shadows but as soon as she stepped into the light it turned this richly colored maroon. She was tan but not like Sean. It was almost like no matter how long she stayed in the sun her skin would never be more than a light tan. She had strange ears though. Erik had only seen them once because they were always behind her hair. She seemed quite shocked that he had seen them too. They were pointed almost. Not near what he had imagined the fantasy creature the elves would have, but still it made him wonder. Although not near as much as he wondered about her eyes. She seemed to be able to see in the dark at times or she could see through the foggiest of days. What he loved most was how they changed color, or at least they seemed to. Most he time they are a dark blue but every now and again they changed this dark green and others they would be a gray color. It was almost like they changed with the weather. Only once did he ever see her eyes change purple. She was furious at something; he couldn’t remember what, just that dark purple in her eyes.

“Day dreaming again I see.” A voice said from behind him. Erik spun around so quickly that he almost fell over his own feet. “Don’t do that!”

“Sorry Erik, didn’t mean to sneak up on you or anything.” said Sean as he dumped the firewood on the ground. He looked around for a second and asked, “Where has Wren run off to now?”

“Oh she ran off after I asked her how she was going to cook those eggs of her’s”

“Ah, off to make a rocet I guess.”

“A Rocet?”
“Yeah, you take a flat rock and chip a bit of it away in the middle so the eggs don’t fall off. Then you just put it on top of the fire with the eggs and you got your self a rocet. It sounds weird but I didn’t name it or anything.” explained Sean as he started stacking the firewood.

“Ah, you spoiled my surprise.” Both the boys jumped this time only to find Wren had snuck up behind them with her rocet she had made.

“I swear you to are to easy to sneak up on. You really should pay more attention out here. What if I were a Kaman Bear or something? You two should know we are in Kaman Bear country.” commented Wren almost jokingly. But she was right. If she was a Kaman bear they would be in real trouble. Neither one of them was prepared to deal with one of those. They blended in forests and rocks so well you usually never knew they where their.

“Yeah your right, to think something that large can hide itself in plain sight. You know how we get when we want to have fun we sometimes forget the detals.” Said sean.

“Well you shouldn’t forget about that one at least”

From there they all pretty much went to their tasks. Sean built up the fire while Wren and Erik packed up the rest of camp. After Wren then went to cooking the eggs while Erik gathered berries and Sean gathered the roots. Sean had taught Erik what berries was good to eat and which were not. Erik was a fast learner but he still hadn’t gotten the nack at the roots yet but he was sure he would learn very soon. Sean had taught Erik many things about the outdoors and Erik had taught him many things about the cities. It seemed to be a fair trade. After all if you don’t learn something new everyday what was life about?

The rest of the morning was spent eating their filling breakfast and hiking to the Forests of Driton where the Fairies live. The three chatted and caught up on news from their cities and villages. Nain, you see, is on the east side of Apson while Sean’s farm and Leth, The village that Erik lived in, was on the west side. So they only got together maybe once or twice a year. Just as the sun was setting Sean looked to the northwest and saw neon black ray of swirling light shoot up into the sky. He looked to the others to say something but they were already staring at this odd site. When he looked back it was gone. Sean felt a feeling of dread come over him. He looked to the others speechless He didn’t need words to see that they were feeling the same way. Wrens mood however was a bit more determined. Why?
“What in all of Apson was that?!” asked Erik rather loudly. Neither could answer him and neither wanted to. It was nothing they have ever heard of or seen was anything like this. Then they heard the scream.

Thus ends chapter one

Ok i know i should have posted this first but yeah, well I wasn't finished with it yet. so here it is

Prologue

Kain walked the halls of the once great castle. The dust being disturbed with the passing of his dark robed form, no one had been here for a hundreds of years. Many don’t even know of its existence. His piercing black eyes scan the rooms and walls, looking at the decay of the once beautiful tapestries and rugs that decorated the castles rooms and halls. ‘Had it really been that long?’ He thought to himself. Time seemed so quick to pass him by. There was never enough time in the world, even for him. He was a wise man, seen many things, done what most could only ever dream of and yet he was just one in the long line of many. He was a Draconian, an ancient race going all the way back to the time of Angels and Demons. Draconians really are a mix breed and the strongest of the three. Draconians are elves with the wings of a giant eagle. Closer to the angel breed than the Demons of old. The Drakes however are closer to Demon side rather than the Angels of that time. Although these angels are demons are not what the people of the lands now think of angels and demons. No, they are much more than that. However first and foremost he is a Druid, a teacher and silent protector of the lands and he took his job very seriously. He had to.

Kain walked to the library. There lining the walls of this huge room where selves and selves of books. Some written recently by him, others dated back to the very beginning but very few indeed have survived that long. There were copies of the older books of course since they would not long survive much more but who wrote them and whether they had all of the information is what Kain had been looking into for a while now at least until a few hundred years ago. He had been wandering the lands recovering in some ways and looking to see what had changed in the four corners of the know world and a few of the unknown. He went village to village and through out the cities to learn what there was to learn and share some of his knowledge. Fixing things where it was needed and making friends in the process. Now, however, it was time to be back at Clune, His home and the home of the Druids. He was sure that the others would be here soon to talk of the disturbance that he had felt and the others had to of felt. At least if there were any of they left.

book in progress.

‘How long would have to wait? Shouldn’t they already be here?’ He did travel from the most northern corner to get here. He expected at least a few others or their descendants to be here. He walked to the al’runes office. The al’rune was the leader of the druids and if anything was to be found about the others it would be here. Perhaps he would find some documents on the rest of the clan. He went in and stopped cold in his tracks. It was the al'runes assistant, dead. Dried blood covered the walls and furniture. His head set neatly on the desk with a scream still on his lips. His body parts and chunks where thrown all around the room. ‘Who could have done this?’ He found his answer in the bloody tracks on the floor.

Then he saw the light out the window. A neon swirling beam of black light went shooting up into the sky and was gone. He then heard foot steps coming up the stairs he closed the door and waited. A few seconds went by that seemed like hours until a robed figure came into the room. “There you are.”

Thus ends the prologue.

Re: book in progress.

Chapter Two

“Let’s go, now.” Wren ordered.
“But what about what just happened?” Asked Erik
“That’s exactly why we need to leave. Just follow me I know where we will be safe.”
      “Safe from what?” asked Sean.
“Look you can stand here and find out or we can walk and I’ll tell you when we get there.”

With out another word they followed Wren along the dense brush of the path. They were now heading north instead of their north easterly direction. Neither had any idea why but neither where about to complain. Sean had never seen Wren like this. ‘It’s almost like she knows exactly what was going on. But how could she know? What was she hiding?’ They came to the edge of a clearing and waited. Wren clicked two rocks together three times then two more times and then two more times before she turned to them and said, “Ok what I am about to tell you is very important. We are going to leave here and go to the druid castle. You know the ones from the bed time stories your mom used to tell you about?”
“You mean Clune? That’s just a story” stated Erik.
“That is not story and nether is the one with the demons trapped under ground by the great tree with Drate roots.”
“What are you saying Wren? What the hell is going on?” asked Sean.
“All of it was real…well most of it, but you and I Sean are descendents of Krake.”
“The hero, from the tree story? Ok now I know you must have eaten a poison berry Erik must have given you.”
“I did not give her any poison berries!”
“Would you two shut up! Just get on your horse and let’s go.”

They didn’t have to ask what she was talking about this time. She got up and went over to a Roc and got on. Next to the Roc were two horses saddled and ready to go. How the hell they got there with out them knowing was a mystery and kind of embarrassing. Sean jumped on the big black one and Erik on the White. “Now you two follow me and stay close. Don’t worry about tiring these horses out they are well trained and very fit for the ride.”

With that said she took to the skies and the horses followed unbidden. ‘It was almost like she knew what was going to happen.’ thought Sean. ‘How could she have known all of this? Obviously something is going on, but the tree? That was legend not fact.’ Sean was quite determined to figure out what was really going on and by the end of this day he would have the truth. As they left the forest and moved through the grassy plains Sean looked at the very confused Erik and decided he may as well enjoy the ride while he could. Wren could see anything from her advantage point and they would be safe from what ever made that blood curling scream still ringing in his head.

Mean while Kain was face to face with an old friend. “Enya! Don’t sneak up on me like that...Actually your sneaking could use a little work.”
“Good to see you too Kain and I was not sneaking. You wouldn’t know it if I was.” Enya was a slender woman. Her burnet hair was long and flowing and always seemed to be in motion. That’s just the way it is with Ephemerals though, always moving, flowing like they were made of a liquid wind. Not many could disappear completely but a few could. Enya could make herself seem very ghost like but nothing better than that. She had deep green eyes of a cat; they were always kind of sleepy looking but always watching. That’s one of the many things Kain liked about her. Always alert ready for anything.

“What happened here?”
“Oh about fifty years ago everyone had died due to a plague, except him. He died last week. I’m Sure you already know by what.”
“Yes, but what of the al’rune?
“No one has seen her in a hundred years, shortly after you left she disappeared. I tired to have word sent out to you but you know how well liked you are and the timing, many were convinced you where involved one way or another.”
“Oh really. That doesn’t surprise me really, but where have you been? This place is like a tomb.”
“That’s cause that’s mainly what it is. We had to reopen the Catacombs to lay to rest man of our fellow druids. I’ve been looking for you for several years now. You do leave no trace of where your going when you leave a place don’t you?”
“Yes there is a reason for that as you know.”
“I do.”
“What of the descendents of Krake?”
“Alive. Heading this way I’m sure.”
“How do you know?”
“You will see. Unlike you they are much easier to keep tabs on. So what shall we do first? Zane knows we have so much to do!"

Wren looked back to the boys on the horses. They looked so confused. How was she to explain everything? The tree, the drails, and her being what she was. It might be best for them to see for themselves. She landed her Golden Roc a top the grass lain hill. Smells of grains and flowers filled the air around her. ‘This may be the last peaceful moment we have for a long time’ Wren thought to herself and took every second to enjoy it.
The boys came up behind her and stopped staring out into the forest at the bottom of the hill. In the very center was what the boys assumed was a mountain with a huge castle sitting a top the peak. “Boys this is Clune, home of the druids.”
“Can’t be,” said Erik in uttered disbelief.
“It can and it is. Now let’s go we have to get over there if we are to be safe.” With out another word Wren took to the skies once more and led them into the forest, she did not want to leave any time for questions just yet. As soon as they entered the trees it became humid and quite warm. It was like no place they had ever been before. The air was filled with fragrances that were quit foreign to the boys. They saw birds with long tails and very colorful feathers. They came in all colors reds, blues, greens, yellows, purples. Every one of them more beautiful that the last. Then he saw the biggest cat he had ever seen. It would have stood eye to eye with him if he was on the ground and it seemed like bits and pieces of it were disappearing and reappearing. It was orange with black stripes and glowing yellow eyes. It seemed to just ignore them and head off towards the castle disappearing completely with in the forest. ‘What is this place’ He thought to himself and before he knew it they were climbing a trial to the castle and the forest was gone.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

“I think our best bet is to go down to the vault and retrieve the weapons we will need. Are all still in place?”
“All but one, at least as far as I know the necklace of Sheal is the only one missing; which is obviously the one we happen to need the most.”
“What happened to it? I swear Enya I leave for one hundred years that this place falls to pieces.”
“Don’t look at me you’re the one who left. You should know what happened to the necklace. Why else would a Meltre kill the al’rune assistant?”
“You left it in the care of this guy? Enya you know Shrune is always tripping over his own feet. Why didn’t you just leave it in the vault?”
“Because the vault is no where near as secure as it used to be. Fifty, sixty years of non-maintained rotting iron will do that. It looks solid but it’s close to having the door fall off.”
Kain just sighed and started to head down to the vault with Enya close behind. It looked like he had his work cut out for him. He went down many flights of stairs and a few passages here and there. Some where hidden while others where main halls of the castle. If you did not know the place you could easily spend the most of a year trying to get out, if you survived that long. They arrived in a cold damp room with a simple looking vault in the center. Kain decided to test Enya’s theory of the crumbling door and pulled. Sure enough the door came crashing down to the floor. A combination of dust and rust filled the stale air around him. Once the air settled He went down the spiraling flight of stairs to a huge room. Every Ancient weapon ever made was here or at least a replica.
As he looked in to the vault he made a count of the weapons. Most where here, there was one however that was also missing but it looked like it had been gone a while. “Enya please tell me you know where the Keel dagger is?”
“Of course, I am wearing it on my belt.” She shifted her robes to reveal a crooked glowing short sword under her cloak.
“Good, now help me get the rest of this stuff to the library. We are going to have to empty all of the vaults and put everything in the library vaults.”
“Do you really think that is necessary?”
“Do you not remember how it was when they first invaded?”
“Yeah I guess you are right.” Enya closed her eyes and reopened them to reveal them to be glowing blue she held out her hands to ether side of her and giant hands made of blue energy emerged and scooped up all of the weapons gently. She walked up to the library with them and set them on the floor. “There you put them all away and I’ll do the heavy…” Enya seemed to get a push from something unseen and she got very excited, “They are here!” That’s all Kain got out of her be fore she sprang out of the library. Kain followed closely behind. ‘How could they be here already they only just…‘his thoughts were interrupted by the sight of a Roc and two horses with their mounts out the hall window over looking the court yard. Kain hung back in the main door way shadows and watched.

“Wren so good to see you!” said Enya with much excitement. “I see you have done what is needed assuming these young ones are who I think they are. I knew I could count on you.”
“Thanks Enya. Sean, Erik, This is my mentor Enya, she is a Druid.”
“Pleased to meet you.” They said in unison, staring.
“I hope you don’t find this rude but, why are you all swirly and such?” asked Erik.
“Not at all my dear child, I am an Ephemeral. We all look like this.”
“I have only ever heard of them in stories I never knew they were real….. I’m sorry if that offended you.”
“Not at all, you will learn much is not just stories while you are here I suspect.”
“Wren is that another friend of yours?” asked Sean as he pointed to the door way.
“I believe he is though we have never met. Kain isn’t it?”
“Indeed and you are?” asked Kain raising one eyebrow. He stepped out from the shadows, he was very intimidating to the boys they had never seen someone with eyes like his. They seemed to see into them past their bodies and into their soul. Erik was not sure he liked the feeling.
“Wren, Enya’s apprentice; I have heard so much about you.”
“Wren you and your friends should follow me and Enya we have much to talk about and even more to do.”
Kain went up the stairs towards the library. He was closely followed by Wren who was also closely followed by Sean and Erik. Enya took up the rear and watched the very nervous looking boys, they were not what she expected but then she knew not to expect much. She was very sure they had no idea as to what was going on. Perhaps as time went on it was better to tell pieces of the story rather than dump it on them all at once.
Sean and Erik were fascinated by every thing there was to see. The old paintings, the tapestries, even the very castle its self seemed alive and watching. Once they reached the library their wonder only increased. They had never seen more that five books in one place as books where hard to come by. To see thousands of books just lining the wall of this room was enough to make them stop dead in their tracks. Enya let them have their moment, “Move along we don’t have all day.” called Enya.
“Oh sorry.” Sean apologized.
Kain faced the group, “Well we best get started. Enya why don’t you finish up what we were doing. I can put up everything while I explain what’s going on to the boys and Wren if need be.”
“Alright, just remember they might as well be from another planet in this place so have patience.” With that Enya ran down the stairs.

Kain walked over to a book shelf and moved a statue of a faun. The book case moved back and slide behind the other one. The group of three was mesmerized. Kain picked up one of the weapons that was already lying on the floor and started to put them all away on the shelves in the revealed room and as he did so he began to speak. “What I’m about to tell you is very important so listen well as I will not repeat myself and I will answer your questions only at the end… Long ago Apson was invaded by an unknown land. They were invaded by things called Drails. These drails are much like the demons from the scary stories your parents tell you about and the ones you see in your nightmares. They come in many forms just as the trolls do today only there are many more kinds. All the races came together to fight off this enemy it was the first time that all the races had come together for a common good and therefore a highly significant moment in history. There were elves, fairies, dragons, draconians, drakes, trolls, humans, gnomes, dwarves, ephemerals and many others. However it took them a long time to do so ignore the warnings because they didn’t trust one another, and even with that force they came up with in the end it was not long before the drails took over half our lands. The people of Apson had to think of something and fast. Using weapon smiths of the Dwarves, trolls, and gnomes plus the magic of the fairies, elves, draconians, and drakes they were able to give every creature a weapon that was perfectly designed to kill the Drails. However even then ground was lost and gained so many times it was impossible to say who was winning this war. So the best of every race got together to create the necklace of Sheal. Mean while small groups of infantry skirted around the forces and went deep into the eleven forests. With them they carried almost all the Drate there was….”

All the sudden there was a large thud behind them. The boys jumped. “Sorry, Sorry, carry on.” apologized Enya. Apparently she had brought up lots of tiny bags filled with something heavy and with in seconds she was headed for the stairs once more apparently to retrieve more odd items.
Kain continued while he put the last of the weapons away and opened another bookcase. This time by moving a Fairy statue and started putting away the bags Enya had just brought up on more empty shelves. As he did this he continued, “Anyway they also carried gold and silver with them it took many trips to do this task alone and many died along the way. They chose a place that had not been touched by the war just yet and they began to craft a silver tree with golden leaves and drate roots. The magical beings went to work also and created another dimension that they were determined to lock away the strongest of the Drails. The drate roots would keep the magic in check for many millennia and keep it from seeping away and compacted into one spot never moving, while the tree would prove as a marker and memorial to all who had died. Mean while all this was happening other magical beings had snuck across the enemy lines and laid some drate stones along the old boarder of what was the unknown world and the known world of Apson. Every thing was in place. Now they just had to get the drails where they wanted them.”

book in progress.

This time a large crash came behind them, everyone jumped and looked up to see Enya returning with a rather large amount of armor. ”Sorry, gonna need to take a second trip with this stuff, There is so much of it!” She giggled and with that she was gone once more.
“Never a dull moment with that woman I’ll tell ya.” With that he finished putting away the bags and went over to open yet another bookshelf. This time moving what anyone would have thought to of been a book but it was made of water or at least what looked like water. In this room where not shelves but manikins of all the different races, even some he did not know existed. Kain started to put on all the armor on the appropriate manikin and went on with the story. “Where was I? Oh yes. The plan was simple. They would capture each powerful individual in a magic stone called a lorkee. There where many back then. Then they would then release them into the other dimension that was created for them sealing them away for a long time. During the confusion the main mass of our forces would push back the weaker drails behind the boarders. Then Krake, a master warlock of the time, would summon all the forces of nature to make a wall between our two worlds. It would be made of Smoke, wind and fog so thick to go into such a place would be to be lost forever. Also He summoned magical smoke begins named warefogs, not very creative I know, but they were to lead them back form whence they came as long as it was back on that unsuspecting beings side of the boarder. In return they had a place to live and no one would ever bother them and be safe from Trune Cats. You see they usually lived in the moors back then and a few of them still do and they constantly had to battle with Trune cats who thought them to be very tasty, so this sounded really nice to them and accepted the charge. Wonderful race of creatures they are. Don’t get me wrong though those warefogs can be one of the most dangerous things you may encounter in your life.”
Another crash came down but this time on one jumped “Sorry, here is the rest of it. I’ll be back with the very last load, hopefully” said Enya.
“Enya, do be careful with the last one you know how fragile those are.” asked Kain.
“Will do!” a voice down the hall said and a hand made of blue energy made thumbs up in the doorway and then disappeared.
“Won’t she ever sit still when I talk to her?” Kain said to him self as he continued his work “Alright, so battle after battle the magical beings captured the more powerful drails while the weapon and battle skilled races kept trying to push them back. Eventually it began to work. They pushed them back over a period of a year but when they finally got them where they wanted Krake summoned the powers only he possessed at the time. A wall of water and fire came up and when around our entire land. It then settled and became the smoke, fog, wind mixture it was meant to be and the warefogs ran in to do their part. Everyone spread out along the boarder and stood watch just incase one or two got out. Which a few did, but as the fog grew the fewer drails there were till none came through at all. After years of fighting it was finally over. They decided to go back to their own land and live out their lives but to make sure they would never have to go through such a tragedy again they made the druid counsel. They were to maintain the boarder and keep peace among the lands. Later the duties spread to teacher and historians as well as finding new technology. Krake was made the leader of the council and dubbed the Al’rune. The al’rune wore the necklace of Sheal, The power source to the tree and the boarders, if you know how to use it. It can also keep tabs on weakening spots of ether and fix them before any damage is done. This leads us to the light I’m sure you all saw, that would be a breach of our boarders, but by no more than a scouting troop I’m sure. How they managed to do it I’m not sure since the necklace has been missing and the person who knew how to wield it has been gone a hundred years. Which comes to you guys, the descendents of Krake, you will be of great help with all of this. For one you have the blood of Krake in you which makes it easier to wield such power.”
Kain started to lay out pillows on the floor. “I also have a book for you to read. It was written by Krake himself in case of such times. It explains how to use the necklace of shale and what obstacles you may encounter. Usually only the Al’rune gets to see this book but I think it would be ok at this point to read it as you may be our only hope.” The three looked at one another and then back to Kain, clearly confused. Kain open another book shelf by pushing several books as far back as they would go on the shelf there was nothing in there, at least for a second. Kain waved his hand and the walls turned blue and books on shelves began to appear. He took one out, handed it to Sean and waved his hand once more and everything disappeared, he closed the bookshelf door behind him. “Here read this while I finish putting away the last of the relics away and I will be here to answer all your questions. I’m sure you will have plenty.” With that Kain opened a bookshelf with moving and orb of trapped fire this time and went to work with Enya who apparently just got back dropping many stones onto the pillows. They placed them gently on empty shelves with tiny pillows and worked silently.

Thus ends chapter two.
