Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
Not sure he trusts himself, Sam decides to give up hunting and goes off on his own. But that night, a late-night visitor tells Sam that he won't let him off the hook that easily. Dean, intent on stopping the Apocalypse, continues hunting on his own and teams up with Castiel to find the Archangel Raphael since Castiel believes Raphael knows the location of God's vessel on Earth.
I can't wait for this one. I want to see if Jess is Jess or an evil Jess.

I'm thinking Jess is Lucifer's way of tempting Sam. If it is the actual Jess, she'd have to be a ghost. I'm looking forward to this one too!

I was wondering about that one myself...I'm presuming he'd have a human host like the other angels, but who knows. You never know what to expect on this show...that's why I love it!

Re: Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
Really enjoyed this episode, even if the brothers are split up. Cas and Raphael were interesting and Dean had some good one liners.
I was so glad to see Sam spit the demon blood in that hunter's face I actually cheered. LOL. I'm still confused by the dream sequence with Jess/Lucifer. At first I thought he was really there but Luther can't find him cause of the symbol that's on his chest, so if he found him in his dream. The ending was eerie, with Lucifer telling him 'You will say yes'.
I'm thinking that is where next week's episode plays a key role. Dean has obviously turned his back on his brother. In fact 'He's happier then he's been in years." (Sam has apparently been a real drag to big brother). Anyway, I'm thinking that Dean goes to the future, finds Sam is Lucifer's vessel and it opens his eyes somewhat. Who knows, with Dean anything is possible. He seems pretty happy just hanging out with Cas.

Re: Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
Well it was another roller coaster ride, that's for sure. I'm loving this season so far!
I loved the whole sequence with Cas...there were some classic lines in there! How Misha Collins does that with a straight face is beyond me!
There were times I wanted to crawl through the screen and hug both Sam and Dean and other times when I wanted to slap them both upside the head! Actually, more of the latter for Dean this week.
I think they're both in denial...Sam is fighting his natural calling to be a hunter and Dean is denying his calling as the caretaker. I understand why he said he felt relieved to finally not have to take care of everyone else, but at the same time I just wanted to slap the crap out of him! I think deep down he still loves Sam, though, and doesn't really believe what he was saying. I think it was kind of an "if I say it loud enough, it'll be true" type of thing. And Sam's doing the same with denying being a hunter. They need to have their heads knocked together!
The sequence with Jess was interesting...had a feeling that was going to be all Lucifer's doing going into it, but it was interesting to see how it played out. It's basically the same thing Lucifer did with the guy who's hosting him right now. Except, unfortunately for Lucifer, Sam's a whole hell of a lot stronger so he's not giving in.
There were a few times there when Sam was reacting to Jess and it just broke my heart...you could really see the old, fragile Sam inside...the one who can turn you to mush with a single look. That's when I wanted to hug him. Oh, and he looked REALLY hot last night too!
Raphael was interesting. I really find it fascinating how they're drawing the parallel between God's relationship with the angels and Dad's with the boys...very cool stuff. And I think Dean's beginning to see that too, but it's not sinking in yet. The idgit! They both need Bobby to knock some sense into them.
And they SO need a major chick flick moment!

Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
I liked the parts with Jess, short as they were. I knew the minute she told him he had always had something dark in him, that it wasn't really Jess. She was way to cold and cruel.

Oh yeah, it was obviously not her...but Sam's reaction to her just broke my heart. Talk about kicking a guy when he's down!

Re: Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
I forgot another thing I noticed in this episode that could be a lead into next week. Dean was a lot 'colder', like when he killed that vampire or monster. Blood splattered all over his face (a la the Gordon episode) and he had that same cold, hardened look. Next week he meets Dean of 2014 and that Dean is a cold, heartless, unfeeling hunter. Perhaps in this episode Dean got a quick look of what he becomes when he no longer has his brother and forgets how to be big brother... Just a thought.

Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
Oooh...good point! I'm definitely hoping that next week will be Dean's wake up call...God knows he needs one. I think this week was Sam's. Hopefully once they both wake up, they'll get back together because I really think that's the key...they're stronger together, they make all their biggest mistakes when they're apart, they just don't see it yet.

Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
I think it's the angels...they're trying to scare him into doing what they want. But I'm hoping Dean will see through it and figure out the truth...and figure out what he really needs to do, which is fight WITH Sam, together...not against each other like they have been.

Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
I'm hoping neither of them are dumb enough to give in to the angels OR the demons. I think they will tell them where to shove it.

Yep, but I'm thinking once they get back together they'll have the strength to fight...they are each other's strength, they just don't realize it yet.

Season 5, Episode 3: Free to Be You and Me
I think they're getting close to that point. Dean's already told the angels to shove it and now Sam's doing the same with Lucifer, but I really don't think either one can be completely successful alone...they need to work together.
