Season 5, Episode 4: The End
Sam tells Dean he wants to rejoin him in the battle of the Apocalypse. Dean tells Sam that they are better off apart in fighting evil on their own terms. Later, Dean awakens five years in the future in an abandoned city. There he is attacked by humans who have been infected with a demonic virus that turns humans into mindless, flesh-eating zombies. Zachariah appears to Dean and explains that this is the world that exists as a result of Dean refusing to help the angels fighting Lucifer. Dean meets up with a future Dean, who tells him that the virus is the Devil's endgame for destroying mankind.

I am not thrilled with the concept for this one but I am so hoping it will be the slap upside the head that Dean needs...enough with the fighting, they NEED to get back together already!

Re: Season 5, Episode 4: The End
Ok, I wasn't looking forward to this one too much but deep down I knew it would be good, cause heck, it had two Dean's in it. And I knew they'd tell us how and why Sam and Dean got back together. All that said, here's my review...
Surprise! I loved it as usual. The beginning when Dean told Sam to basically get lost I had to stop myself from throwing my beer at the TV. Dean's ears must be burning cause I called him a whole lot of four letter words, and a few five letter ones.
But the whole future aspect (not a fan of past and future episodes) worked out really well. Castiel cracked me up. A stoned hippie hanging out at Orgies. Guess he got over that 'Virgin' thing huh?
The ending when Dean faced Lucifer as Sam. It was bizzare to say the least. Jared did a good job in that part. And when Dean woke up and Zachariah gave him a choice again... who thought Dean was saying yes? I LOVED his answer, the light finally dawned on Dean that he needs his brother as much as Sam needs him.
One final note.....DAMN YOU KRIPKE!!!!! You couldn't give us just ONE tiny hug at the end!?!

Re: Season 5, Episode 4: The End
THANK FREAKING GOD!!!!! I was cheering at the very end...my boys are back!!!
I wasn't really looking forward to this one...not a huge fan of the future/alternate reality idea...but I have to admit I found it fascinating. I loved seeing how the current Dean reacted to his future self. When "future" Dean said Sam was gone and they hadn't spoken in five years and "current" Dean flinched and almost teared up, I was almost jumping up and down...FINALLY my Dean was back!! I knew he hadn't totally abandoned his true self.
Cas was a hoot as a hippie, but I especially loved the end when Dean found Cas again and said "never change"...that was too cute!
The possessed Sam was REALLY creepy...damn, Jared does that well! The sweeter he got the creepier it felt. Yeesh!
And yeah, after Dean went back and Zachariah asked him to say yes and he hesitated I did think he was going to do it. I practically wanted to crawl through my screen and slap him! Then when he just said "nah"...I actually did a double take...wasn't sure I'd heard him right!
Obviously I loved the final scene...FINALLY we didn't get punched in the gut in the last five minutes. But I did wonder for a second what Dean was doing when he handed Sam the knife. I didn't blame Sam for flinching! I'm just glad they're back together. And I LOVED how Dean put it...
"We may be each other's Achilles heel, but we also keep each other human."
Well DUH!!! Took you long enough to figure it out, you putz!

Season 5, Episode 4: The End
Dean's reaction to himself was good. I think it freaked him out to see how cold blooded he had become.
Sam looked so uncomfortable at the end of the show. Almost like he didn't know how to act around Dean.

Season 5, Episode 4: The End
Well, Dean had just told him they needed to go their separate ways, then he changed his mind...I don't blame Sam for being confused. I was just glad to see them getting back together...the way it should be!
And yeah, I actually really liked Dean's reaction to himself. When he looked at future Dean and said "Man, there is something broken in you!" it broke my heart!

Season 5, Episode 4: The End
I wouldn't worry about them being predictable...they never are!
And yeah, the reversals of some of the characters were cool!

I don't know how Misha Collins does that with a straight face but man, does he pull that off!
And agreed on Jared...actually the guy who is playing Lucifer's current vessel is doing the same thing, which is intriguing. You kind of expect Lucifer to be over the top menacing and yet they're playing him as almost gentle...another perfect SN twist on the expected. Gotta love this show for that element alone!

Very good point, Mel. It definitely ups the creepy factor, that's for sure. And it makes me wonder what they're going to do with God.
