Ok, I'm doing a scene for each episode. Here's my scene for Wendigo:

Sam and Dean finish interviewing the old man who survived the Wendigo attack and return to the Impala.

The two brothers had ridden in silence from the old man’s house, his words still running through their minds. The creature he had described was fast and fearsome and deadly. It was no grizzly and it wouldn’t be easy to stop. It was up to them to figure out a way, to keep any more innocent people from dying.

Dean pulled the Impala up outside their motel and shut off the engine. He glanced over at Sam, but his little brother didn’t reply. He’d been sullen and angry ever since they left Stanford. Dean couldn’t begin to imagine the pain he was going through, but still, this wasn’t like Sam and it gave Dean a cold feeling in the pit of his stomach. He had to shake him out of this somehow. He’d seen that look before, the anger and pain. He’d watched it morph into an unrelenting focus on getting revenge. It had eaten up their father long ago, but Dean would be damned if he let the same thing happen to his little brother. Not his Sammy. It had taken him too long to get his brother back, he wasn’t going to lose him again.

He stepped out of the car and walked around to the trunk, opening it and then propping the hidden compartment open with a spare shotgun. As he did, Sam walked up and stopped next to him.

“It’s not enough that we have to go looking for Dad, now we have to play babysitter too?” Sam huffed.

Dean was in the process of loading the weapons bag and now he paused and looked up at his gangly little brother. He took in the lips tightened into a scowl, shoulders set defiantly and the familiar angry spark in his hazel eyes and felt that cold tug in his stomach again. He straightened up and Sam tilted his head as if to challenge his older brother.

“What?” he said in exasperation.

Dean simply tossed the weapons bag at him and closed the trunk. He stepped to the motel room door and unlocked it, then stepped inside. Sam followed and tossed the weapons bag on the nearest bed.

“You going to say anything?” he asked again.

Dean dropped the card key on the table and exhaled slowly. “What do you want me to say, Sam?”

“I can tell you’re upset with me. Something’s bothering you. What is it?”

Dean considered shrugging it off but something made him change his mind. He looked over at his brother, his green eyes flashing.

“You really want to know? You want to know what’s bugging me? We’re out here looking for Dad and I’ve already found him,” Sam tilted his head and furrowed his brow in confusion, “I’m looking at him!”

Sam smirked and shook his head. “So what…I shouldn’t want to find him?”

“I never said that, Sammy. Of course you should…so do I. But you don’t have to become him!”

“I’m not Dad.”

“Oh no? You could fool me. Look, I can’t understand the pain you’re feeling, but I know how it can eat you up. I’ve seen it happen. I’ve seen what it did to Dad. It tore him up, Sam. He let it chew him up and spit him out and now he’s just a…a shell,” Dean swallowed back a sudden burst of emotion that threatened to spill over, “All he can see, all he can think about is getting revenge.”

“Yeah, well maybe I know how he feels,” Sam said, his own hazel eyes welling. He sat down on the far bed and hung his head. Dean stepped over and knelt in front of him. Sam looked up and Dean locked him in a bright green stare.

“You listen to me,” he said, “I know you want to get this thing…so do I. And we will, I promise you. But this ends now…we’ve lost enough…I’ve lost enough to this evil sonofa*****, I will NOT lose you too!”

“How am I supposed to think of anything else, Dean? Every time I close my eyes, I see her on the ceiling. I can’t forget…I can’t. I can’t rest until I find this thing.”

“We’ll find it,” Dean nodded, “but we’ll do it the right way. I’m not letting it take you too, little brother. No matter how much it hurts…you let me help you, you let me carry the weight.”

Dean reached up and gently grabbed a handful of his brother’s hair. Sam was still locked onto those wide green eyes. He swallowed back the pain and anger and nodded slowly.

Re: Writing Challenge - Missing/Added Scene - Pt. 2

Ok, here's my second entry, for "Dead In the Water":

Sam and Dean in the car, after Dean has spoken to Lucas about his mom wanting him to be brave.

Sam looked over at his brother and considered his words carefully. “What you said back there, about Mom? You never told me that before.”

Dean kept his eyes on the road and grimaced, God not another chick flick moment. “It’s no big deal,” he sighed. Getting no response, he glanced over to find his little brother giving him his best “empathetic Sammy” look. It was worse than he thought.

“Oh god, we’re not going to have to hug or anything, are we?” Dean groused.

Sam smiled and shook his head and they rode along in silence for several minutes. Sam thought back over everything that had happened in the last month, from Dean showing up at Stanford to the search for Dad to the hell that had literally swallowed up Jess. He bit his lip as he felt a familiar wave of emotion. He glanced over at his brother again and thought about the conversation he’d just witnessed, the way Dean had responded to the little boy, had somehow broken through his shell and gotten him to communicate. Sam had never considered the fact that Dean was relating to the boy. The events that had taken place 22 years ago may as well have happened to someone else. Sam had no active memory of them, only the descriptions he’d heard from Dad and Dean. He didn’t even know anything about his mother, save for a single photograph which he’d always kept on his bedside table.

But Dean was another story. He may only have been four, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t remember. He had known her, had loved her, he remembered the comfort of her embrace. He had known some semblance of a normal life with Mom, Dad and baby brother, before it was shattered into a million pieces. Leaving him lost and confused and scared…like Lucas was now.

Dean pulled up in front of the little church building and they quickly spotted the yellow house across the street, the entire scene echoing the picture Lucas had drawn. Dean shut off the engine and looked over at his brother.

“All this time,” Sam said quietly, “you’ve been so focused on my pain…on making everything better…and I never thought about yours.”

Dean sighed. “I told you, Sam, it’s no big deal.”

“No big deal? Dean, she was your mother.”

“Yeah, and I dealt with it. I’m not a kid anymore. I’m ok.”

Dean swallowed and looked down at his hands. This was very uncomfortable ground for him and this whole case was smacking him in the face with it. Every time he looked at Lucas, scared and withdrawn into his own little world, it all came rushing back. God, he thought he’d put it behind him, why did it still hurt so much? He just wished they could finish it already. He lifted his face again and looked at his little brother.

“Come on, Sammy, let’s go…we’ve got a case to deal with.”

He opened the door and got out and Sam followed suit. He looked over the roof of the car.

“Hey Dean,” he said and Dean looked up, brows furrowed. “Thanks.”

“For what?”

“Being brave…for both of us.”

Dean cleared his throat and shifted his weight uncomfortably. “You try and hug me and I’m kicking your ass.”

Sam grinned and they headed across the street to the house.

Re: Writing Challenge - Missing/Added Scene - Pt. 2

Ok, this is for Wendingo. I'm not real happy with it but it's all I can come up with at the moment.

Sam was barely containing his anger. They were in the middle of nowhere, babysitting three civilians. He didn’t doubt the reason Dean was so eager to join Hailey and Ben on their search for their brother was because Hailey was cute, very cute. Two things were constant with Dean and always would be, one he was always hungry and two he was always horny. Sam gritted his teeth and brushed by his brother as he stopped to flirt with Hailey once again. As he walked past Hailey stopped “Your brother doesn’t seem too happy.”

“He’s just worried about our Dad. It’s been a rough month for Sam.” Dean sighed “He’ll be fine. And we’ll find your brother, I promise.” He glanced ahead where his brother was standing, glaring at him “Excuse me a minute.” Walking over to his brother he smacked him hard in the arm “What the hell is wrong with you? You’ve been glaring at Hailey since we left!”

“Wrong? Gee Dean, what could possibly be wrong? We’re walking around in the middle of nowhere looking for Dad, who we both know is not here. Hell, I doubt he ever was. We’ve got three civilians tagging along who have no clue what they are up against and the only thing you can think about is to get into Hailey’s pants!”

Dean grabbed his brother by the shirt and slammed him hard into a tree “You watch your mouth Sam. We’re here because Dad sent us here! And we’re staying until we figure out what the hell is going on!”

“And what about Dad?!”

“If he’s not here then he may have left another clue or something. Either way, we’re going to help Hailey and Ben find their brother.” He released his grip on Sam’s shirt and sighed “We talked about this last night Sammy, and agreed it’s the right thing to do.”

Sam huffed and picked up the weapons duffle he had dropped “No Dean, you talked and you decided it was the right thing to do. I just went along with it cause I wanted to find Dad.”

“And you think I don’t?” Dean moved closer to his brother, forcing him back against the tree one more time, as he did he saw the pain in his little brothers eyes and the tears that Sam was trying desperately to hold back. Dean slowly stepped back and put his hand on Sam’s shoulder “You’re hurting and you’re angry Sam, but taking it out on innocent people isn’t your style man. You need to stay in control.”

Sam’s shoulders sagged and he looked down at the ground “I can’t….” Before Sam could continue the Guide yelled from the distance “Hailey! Come quick! I found something!”

Sam slung the weapons bag over his shoulder and gave his brother one last look before running down the trail.

Ooh, I like that, bec...it's really good! That was another point where I thought they could've expanded on things a little. There was so much going on with Sam and they kept skirting it. He needed the chance to express himself. Nicely done. emoticon

I'm still working on my entries. Our laptop crashed the other night so I lost all my stories that I had on there. I will try to rewrite it Monday when I get some time.
