Bald Mountain Cemetery Friday Night Investigation

Here is what prompted me to investigate this cemetery. I was doing searches on other groups in my area and trying to find "hot spots" to investigate. I came across a local group's website and found this:

"Bald Mountain Cemetery is a lost cemetery up in the mountains of NE Colorado. You'd never know it was there unless you did what we did, stumble upon it. It wasn't until later, when doing some research, that I found a legend about the buried remains of a woman determined to be recognized as a true witch by here peers. At a certain point in the cemetery, whether it be winter or summer, you are to notice a very weak stench of rotting flesh. This is the point where you are assured to be in the right area. If you stand within a few yards of this malodorous grave, a green mist is rumored to appear. If your lighting is suitable you should be able to see the deceased woman stand upright and disperse thousands of maggots, covering the ground. We have yet to see it for ourselves."

Derrell and I both smelled a very faint smell of something pretty bad. But I have to be a little skeptical on this odor. Hence, mountains, very deep into the forest and yes wild animals galore: bear, mountain lion and other carnivorous creatures and I really think the smell could be a rotting carcass that was killed by an animal. Derrell and I searched and searched for what could be causing this smell that is documented by local groups and even the historical society and nothing has or can be found.

Anyway I did not see maggots or green mist nor did I come across a headstone that labled anyone a "Witch" but we did get some pretty interesting orbs and some mist starting to form. One orb was captured during the daylight hours by my newest investigator....My boyfriend, Derrell emoticon

Alas, I went thru all my video and audio and nothing was captured. :(

Also the weather was wonderful. I was expecting a chilly night, Nope, very comfortable. Basically sweatshirt was all that was needed and the wind was calm so calm that you could hear a pin drop that is how quiet it was. The night was clear and the stars could be seen everywhere.

Here is what was caught on camera:

This pic is one that Derrell took...Orb is in motion to the right of the headstone. This pic was taken while the sun was up.

Hi and yes the orb action was incredible. It is a very old cemetery the front of the cemetery is the oldest part where some of the headstones date back to the mid 1800's and alot of the stones state the person died in mines. Central City is a very old mining town. Alot of old mines throughout the mountains there. Some claim to be haunted, I enjoy investigating but mines are out of the question for me and my group....way to dangerous.

I was hoping for the green mist, seeing this woman and the maggots but never happened. I am leaning towards a very old legend and no truth to it at all. But I will keep an open mind emoticon

The best thing to do is keep an open mind when it comes to this kind of thing.

I think the cemetary has a certain beauty to it even without the paranormal aspect. I wouldn't mind being there during the day time.

I don't know what it is, but they have this "other wordly" quality and the head stones are often very beautiful.

I have also noticed the then to be quieter as if the animals were avoiding certain areas. Could just be me they are avoiding though! LOL!

I love all types of cemeteries. The same here on weather they have paranormal qualities or not.
I have had the love for cemeteries ever since I was 8 years old. I would visit my grandmother in Central New York and she lived right across the street from a very old cemetery. The headstones would have the age of the person and what caused their passing.
I would get up in the morning have my breakfast around 8am and would be out the door to the cemetery and would be gone until lunch and then back there until dinner and so on. Not sure if something was calling me or what. When my grandparents moved from that little down I was sad because I really missed the times of going to the cemetery to read or just sit.

When I lived in Tarrytown and Ossining New York I use to love to go to the Cemetaries there. They have some super old ones. It was so cool to walk around.

Where my Mom is buried in Melrose, Minn. there are graves that date back to the 1800's. Two are just marked 'Boy' and the other 'Girl' and a date of early 1800's.

My mother used to be an art teacher and she'd always take her classes to nearby cemeteries to do rubbings of the various grave stones...some of them are really beautiful.

She got several of my siblings and myself interested in that aspect of it. Personally, though, I also just find them peaceful.

The historical society in Central City has numerous grave rubbings that people have donated. They are beautiful. I love cemeteries. I have pictures from a beautiful cemetery in Texas that literally takes you 4 days to go thru the whole place. I love statues and this cemetery has them. I will try in a few days to get some up.

I enjoyed that. I have some old cemetaries here that I need to check out. Been a long time since I have gotten out and investigated anything.
