Re: New way to get AFL games

I watched the Wester Bulldogs vs Geelong Cats yesterday on Channel 264 on Comcast.

The Game was AWESOME. Both teams can move the ball with a couple of hand passes, support, sheparding, and then one kick and they are off and running.

Watched the first half of the St Kilda/Demons game on EPSN 360, Demons are up beating the number one team. St Kilda looks flat. I will watch the second half tonight.

espn360 has 2nd v 3rd (Geelong/dogs) and 1st v 4th (Saints v collingwood) live, excellent! both around 12:30am.

Go Pies although I'm not exactly over-confident.

Just found a great new torrents site that seems to have all the games in good quality (much better than espn360 but of course you can't get it live on torrents, more like about a 12 to 24 hr delay).

AFL is getting very heavy with torrents so maybe if interested PM or email me for the address - probably doesn't really matter here on the Philly Hawks site, but just to be on the safe side...

Torrents are files that allow you to link up with multiple users to download large files in small pieces simultaneously. Basically, instead of downloading one big file all at once, the file is chopped up and the torrent allows you to get the files from one, or many, peers.

It's how people get away with downloading movies and TV shows for free. ^_^ You just need a site to download the torrent and a client with which to download (like μtorrent).

I wouldn't bother messing with torrents seeing as there are plenty of perfectly legal and convenient ways to watch footy.

You gonna charge the club for that legal advise?

I suppose if you wanted to be totally above board, you could email the AFL and ask how much commission they would want for a privately viewed copy of a game from torrents. I don't know how else to get high quality copies of all the games so quickly. You can subscribe to ESPN cable or satellite but they only have some of the games - well up till this week that is... no doubt they'll have all the remaining finals games.

Anyway they're not going to come after someone who downloads games for private use - they do send legal threats to the sites that "track" them though - they already stopped a few like demonoid and fr333dom.

Oh dear looks like they are not showing Geelong vs Collingwood tomorrow morning on espn360 - @%^*n idiots.

However I found a site that is showing it live, omnisport.tv

It costs $5.90. I'm not sure if I'll pay since probably won't be able to watch the mroe important 2nd half assuming I go to Boston in the van. If anyone is leaving later for Boston, I am begging for a lift. May be depressed however for the trip, if the Woods are eliminated.
