totally up in the air over the latest job interview
So I had just resigned myself to working at a store (IF I could even get that) when another nursing home called me for an interview. I had the interview a week ago today (sorry for not posting sooner) - in fact they interviewed a group of us by asking us test questions and going around the circle to get answers, starting with a different person each time to make it fair. Then we were given application forms to fill out and some more test questions to make sure we could express ourselves well in writing. A fifth applicant turned up late, whenwe were filling in the forms, so I have no idea what she may have had going for her.
Two of us finished first and left our folders on V's desk as instructed, and she told us that we were being taken on and we would be coming back. They were going to call our references the next day, of course, but then they would be in touch about Orientation and training.
That was a whole week ago and I've heard nothing. I even called on the Thursday with a question, and no one replied to the message. I'm starting to wonder if that fifth applicant bumped me out of a job. It's getting very annoying being kept in suspense like this. I phoned yesterday and got a telephone menu that expected me to know the position of the person I was calling. Human Resources was not mentioned as an option, so I didn't know which one to choose.
The only good thing is that so far I have not received a rejection letter. I guess if they had decided on her instead of me, I would probably have received one by now.... ?
I'll let you know how things turn out.

Re: totally up in the air over the latest job interview
Sorry! That was sloppy.
So I have three training shifts, each on a different shift so I see the different routines. For training only: Friday I do a day shift, Monday I do an afternoonshift shift, Wednesday I do a night shift. There is also a "short shift" on June 26 to see how I do, I guess. Then there is a "General Orientation" on July 3rd. I am puzzled about why the general orientation is AFTER all the training, but there you go.
It is a relief to know I have a job, but at the same time I now feel nervous, and will be glad to have that first training session over with in order to see how this is all going to work out.
Of course it is just a summer job until I continue the nursing course in the fall, but it could be instrumental in helping me decide what type of nursing I will do when I eventually graduate..

Re: totally up in the air over the latest job interview
Well this is all very interesting! Keep us updated! Sorry I haven't been around to comment sooner, it is a very busy summer for me this year. Not all in a good way
I hope you are liking the work they have you doing and by now have been told which shift you'll be working to start. I hope you don't have to work 12 hour shifts, that would be so hard, but so many in the health field do.
I'll be looking for your next post to see how it's all going for you.
Good luck Starz!
