I love thrift shops. When my children were little I used to get a lot of their clothes there. Also, some of my best pots and pans were bought in thrift shops. But that was then, and now, I find a lot of junk in them. But still, if you look hard, you can always find a bargain. I'm always looking for books, mainly. Our local library has a terrific deal at 50 cents on paperbacks and a dollar for hardbacks, because most of the books are fairly new. How in the world did the price of paperbacks get to be so dadgum high!

Isn't that the truth about books! I refuse to pay that much for a book unless I'm buying it for a gift for someone else, and even then I hate paying it! All the books I read I get second hand.

Well, we have sort of a deal going in the family. We are all readers, so if we are hooked on a series, like say Potter, then one or the other of us will buy the latest book, and then we all pass it around. But for everyday reading, we all buy used...and then we still pass them around!

I'm an older lady, so I've been reading for 60 years. The thing that irritates me the most is all the darned series. Does anyone write a book and finish it anymore? Not that I don't enjoy the occasional trilogy, but good grief, it seems like everyone creates a whole slew of characters and then proceeds to write a dozen books to give them all their place to shine.

I kind of like a series, but only 2 or 3 books worth. I don't usually like to read stories that just go on and on. Right now I'm on an author kick and have been reading Dean Koontz books, he has a few series in the lot. I have enjoyed 7 of the 8 books of his that I've read so far. I have one friend that likes to read but she never gives ME any books, I'm just always giving them to her to read! LOL.

I'm an "older lady" too JJ, I'm 57, nice to see another person around my own age, seems like the boards are mostly young uns! emoticon
