If Obama Wins
During Clinton's years, I opposed the typical harsh criticism and ridicule of him. After all, he was president and the office - much as he sullied it - deserved respect, even if the occupant didn't. So, back on Excite, before the big crash around '98 or so, I posted admonitions to those who ridiculed Clinton, much as I disapproved of the man.
But, some here have taught me that I was foolish to have held back, to have refrained from personal attacks on the man who holds the office of president.
Since the consideration I gave Clinton was not returned in kind towards Bush, I shall not hold back against the dishonest, lying, inexperienced, foolish and inept Obama.
As those did with Bush, I might even try my hand at making things up, just so that I can insult him.
Maybe say things like, he's certifiably insane, things like that.
Hey, if it was OK against Bush, it must be OK against Obama...

yeah I do not agree that what happened with Bush is an excuse for you to go for the jugular with Obama.
maybe it should tell you that partisan bickering is inane and worthless...and repudiating the President is about performance, as opposed to "gut feelings" and "he's not one of us".
because, unfortunately ck...Bush deserves the criticism he has received. he has been the most liberal President in recent history, and his actions have damaged the country. ok, he's done some things right...but he's done a lot wrong.
when Obama becomes President and if he screws up as bad as Bush or even screws up comparably to Bush, I'll be right up there with you on repudiating Obama.
granted, I will try to have realistic expectations of Obama...but if he screws up, I'll be there with you.

clinton was a horn dog...he was not truthful about his affair with monica...nothing wrong with bringing that up or attacking him for those character flaws...but his policy decisions, to me, made great sense to me and I didn't mind defending them from anyone who didn't think they were. i thought the impeachment of clinton was ridiculous, not because the charge was not untrue, but because it did not rise up to the level that i believe the founding fathers had in mind when they more or less invented the impeachment process...franklin called it political assassination...the people had spoken, twice, by substantial margins, and it seemed to me the slight republican majority in the House was playing a purely political game...if we can't stop him at the voting booth, we will stop him with this silly ass impeachment which will surely not get through the Senate anyway....so they did. Bush has lied about why we had to invade iraq, has lied about using torture, has lied about warrantless surveillance, has lied about many more substantial and harmful things to this country than any president in our history, and has started, with complete malice aforethought, the worst war in our history...completely discretionary, completely unnecessary and completely based on lies and exaggerations...that is why so many people hate or intensely dislike this president.
