WHAT????

A Canadian court has overturned a father's punishment for his daughter after she refused to stay off the Internet, his attorney said Wednesday.

The girl, 12, took her father to Quebec Superior Court after he refused to allow her to go on a school trip for chatting on Web sites and then posting "inappropriate" pictures of herself online using a friend's computer, AFP reported.

The punishment was for the girl's "own protection," according to the father's attorney, Kim Beaudoin, who is appealing the ruling.

"She's a child," Beaudoin told AFP. "At her age, children test their limits and it's up to their parent to set boundaries. I started an appeal of the decision today to reestablish parental
authority, and to ensure that this case doesn't set a precedent."

Otherwise, she continued, "Parents are going to be walking on egg shells from now on."

According to court documents, the girl's Internet usage was the latest in a rash of disciplinary problems. But Justice Suzanne Tessier, who was presiding over the case, found the punishment too severe.

OK, so for the rest of this kid's childhood, the dad will have no teeth and she will get away with basically anything she wants. Then when she grows up to be a crack ho, everyone can blame the dad for doing a ****ty job of raising her.

Oh brother!

Canada is imbued with libs...Who have little realization of reality. And obviously they believe that 12 years old children have the right to make decisions on their own.

When the children are on their own, supporting themsleves and paying for their own internat connections. Then they have the rights to disobey their parents.

Until then they are NOT of age to call the shots.

well I lean slightly liberal but this is just -- nuts! It's taking the same BS that robbed teacher's of authority in schools and placing it right into people's homes.

I, for one, commend tbe court's decision. If we allow parents to decide such things as how much time their 12 year old's can spend on the internet, next thing you know they will correct them for talking with their mouth full, interrupting people when they are talking and trying to make sure they come home at night at a reasonable hour...This type of authoritarian control is not conducive to any living being, of any age, and affects in an unreasonable way the self realization of their own personhood.
