Re: US Recession? The housing market is for sure, but the market was inflated and houses were selling way beyond what they needed or should have, so the bubble broke. I only wish we had been in a position to sell and cashed in on it. With that said, our house has gone up in value much like all our other home, and I have no doubt that the trend will continue. Since we are closing in on a retirement age, this is a concern obviously, but more so on "where" we want to relocate when we do retire. we have several options and have not been able to decide on any!
Re: US Recession? With Dubya borrowing money from foreigners to finance 'his' wars, give the rich kickbacks while the middle class falters at home, companies increasingly outsourcing virtually all manufacturing, investors not putting money into America and American's not only NOT saving but borrowing money against non existent assets (the value of their homes) - yeah I'd say that we're in for a real roller coaster ride.

Hate to point this out but the out sourcing was being done in the Administration before...it's just caught on like wild fire and has continued. As for the home market I also remember that this roller coaster on home sales also happened before and eventually the cost of owning a home was ! 12 and 13% interest. Do you remember those days and who was president?
