6/7/08 Wedding cake Here's the cake I made this past weekend:
It was all french vanilla cake with white vanilla icing.
I liked the basketweave one better; this one was a bit too froofy for my tastes. But the bride thanked me about 5 times, so I guess she liked it. And that's what counts.

Sorry, paw. No leftovers go home with me. I slice the whole thing and leave it there with a roll of plastic wrap.
I don't have any more wedding cakes scheduled for the rest of the year. But people plan weddings so last minute these days that I could end up with 3 or 4 more by Christmas.

… Jessilin, be sure to let me know if you find out you're gonna have a girl or boy. I say it's a girl this time.
Betty, you're talented with a pen and paper. I'm talented with icing. LOL! Thanks!
I was really concerned about the 98 degree heat on Saturday. There was a little icing 'slippage' on the sides and the roses went flat, but overall it held up.

… Thanks, Joy! Well, I was going crazy last week doing payroll for the company (500+ weekly paid employees). I'm playing catchup this week with all the work I was supposed to do last week and this week's work combined.
Sheesh.
But my class is going well. I have an A average so far, and I'm halfway through.

My mother makes wedding cakes - and other types - too. Been doing it for decades. But, now, from squeezing the frosting bags, her fingers have hardly any strength left and she's had carpal tunnel from it, too.
So, watch out for yer fingers!
