Sidestory Part 1: The Shadow Knight
There are stories in the old scriptures that tell of an evil side of the calamities of Heaven and Hell, and it was called Oblivion. This is where the true nature of human evil comes to life. In this void, there is no direction for what is right and wrong, only eternal hatred. Therein lies the story of the Shadow Knight, Serian, a once proud fighter who defended the continent of Empyria long ago, who found the secret to eternal life. You may deem this as just another hoax, a ficticious story of betrayal, but it is much more than just that. This Sidestory begins in the year 270 BH.
Serian was the most decorated knight in the Olinates, a group of warriors sworn in by the Gods themselves, to protect the lands from any invaders. When the army of Oblivion rose up from the void and declared war on humanity, the Olinates were summoned to defend the continent. The battle seemed to go on forever, and it seemed the demons were to be pushed back into the void, but something unexpected occurred. Serian was dragged down deep into the void, and for several years, the battle continued with Serian no where to be seen. And then, in the year 264 BH, a dark knight suddenly appeared, wielding a large blade, which was surrounded by an aura of despair and hatred. His armor glowed with a radience that filled the warriors with terror, it seemed to tear the souls right from their bodies, for they no longer had the ability to speak or move, they were just silent. For when they gazed into the dark eyes of the lone knight standing amidst all the chaos and tragedy, they suddenly recognised him, it was Serian.
Yet, it was not Serian. This monstrosity stared down the warriors with an evil smirk, a stare so cold that the very hearts of the Gods themselves would have been turned to stone. He raised his sword high into the air, and with one fell swoop, cut down each of the warriors who were once called his comrades. To everyone's horror, Serian, doused in blood, let out a cackling laugh, proud of the heartless crime he had just comitted. With Serian now in command of the Forces of Darness, there seemed to be no hope left for humanity. One after another, entire civilizations fell to the darkness, until one fateful day, in261 BH, Serian turned his sights on the Haven., which was ruled under the watchful eye of the God of Anthros at the time. Serian could not enter the Haven, for Anthros had placed a barrier to shield the Haven from evil many years earlier, for he had foreseen this event. Serian once again raised his sword high into the air, and called out in blasphemy, "Darkness has always had the power to consume the Light, there is no sort of magical power that can withdraw the army of Nasato, the Lord of all Oblivion!" And, with that being said, Serian commanded the Army of Oblivion to crawl back down into the pits of darkness, for soon they will return and claim this world as their own, and to finish the massacre of all that is loyal to the Gods.
Since that day, Anthros had been expecting the return of the Darkness, even prepared for an initial attack, but no man, nor God, could have predicted that Heaven, the sanctuary for what is now called New Heaven, was powerless to deflect the onslaught that awaited them, and the imminent return of the Shadow Knight, Serian.
