Sidestory 2: Dark Dragon Ryu
There is no true origin to this mighty beast, but there is some information that can be given. Ryu is a manifestation of all the hatred that fills the hearts of all men, a culmination of everything that is evil and unpure. He had once tried to massacre the entire continent of Empyrea all by himself, but to no avail. When the Gods finally decided to take action, they banished Ryu to the deapths of Oblivion, in hopes that he would have no way of returning to the realm of the living.
Ryu is antirely black, with red blazing eyes, breathe that could easily topple a barrage of men with its smell of the rotting corpses of his victims. His body was stronger than even the highest quality of armors that a mortal can create. An estimated age for Ryu is roughly 2000 years old, but once again, this is not actually accurate. For why he suddenly decided to wage war on all living things had become apparent quite early; he wanted to make way for the followers of Aluisis, the Ruler of the Oblivion. The Gods had hoped that the Olinates, at the time, could handle Ryu, but they were completely unprepared for the slaughter that was about to unfold.
At that time, there were only 5 Olinates, way before the Olinates of Serian's time, and they were all prepared to die to protect their homeland. The first to battle Ryu was Sanctus, the youngest of the Olinates. He lunged at Ryu, dodging swipes from the Dark Dragon's large, rotting claws, and tried to pierce through Ryu's heart for an immediate kill. This, however, proved fatal. Ryu's skin deflected Sanctus' blade, and he was immediately sliced in half, and made into a meal for Ryu. The Olinates were horrified at the loss of their comrade, but there was no time for grieving, they had to stop the dragon. This time, they all decided to band together and fight, and for why they didn't do so in the first place is still unknown to this day. Each warrior lunged at Ryu from different diections, in hopes of catching him off guard and getting in a fatal blow. Many blows were made against Ryu, but many were also returned, and another two of the warriors lay dead in a pool of blood, slain by either the dragon's claws or ripped apart by it's fangs.
The final two Olinates, Clesper and Serias, who was the ancestor of Serian, fought with Ryu for many days, tirelessly trying to find some sort of weak point on the seemingly invincible monster. And after all of their strength was sapped away by fatigue and lack of rest, Ryu was still standing, without a scratch, but he, too, was starting to fall from fatigue, for he has had no chance to feed with the two warriors giving him everything they could possibly muster. And finally, on the 7th day, the God Anthros appeared alongside the brave remaining Olinates, and gazed upon Ryu. Ryu, untouched, though apparently weak, lunged at Anthros. The God raised his hand and called forth a gap between the two worlds, and commanded Clesper and Serias to drive the beast into the void. Ryu tried to fight back, but he no longer had the strength to hold his own against the newly replenished strength of the remaining Olinates, and he was pushed into the void, banished to the darkness of the Oblivion.
With the Dark Dragon banished, the people were able to recover and rebuild, and the Olinates were reformed, though in the time passed, the great heros, Serias and Clesper had died, but were made into iconic statues for their bravery and strength. But, deep below the Land of Mortals, a dark presence was gazing up, awaiting the day it would be released from the hellish prison in which it was cast into. Ryu was waiting to escape Oblivion, and destroy all who got in his way.
