Warlin's question...
You approach a young wizard in a large palace. He wears a brilliant golden robe and circlet. He has emerald eyes and a diamond earring in his right ear. He speaks "I am Warlin the great wizard of light.
If it is your wish to learn magic of light such as water, wind, earth, or light then by all means say so.
But if you wish to learn other magic then visit Draken and his fortress of darkness..."

Re: Warlin's question...
Here is my problem, Warlin: I am not sure I have enough magic to become a mage. My twin sister was the one who had more interest and ability when we were small, and our family could only afford to pay for training for one. But when she died a protective spell was cast on me, and I don't know if she did it or a more experienced wizard. (More about that later.) I believe the latter is true, because the spell is too powerful to be one my sister had mastered, unless the act of dying somehow boosted her power?
Sometimes being protected by a spell frightens townsfolk and peasants as much as actually using magic yourself -- they can't tell the difference. And so I found it was safer for me to don my sister's robes and travel openly as a mage, hoping the deception would never backfire on me. Can you test me to decide whether I have enough talent to actually become an apprentice wizard?

Re: Warlin's question...
With proper training and dedication, you can become not only aa mage but perhaps it is possible for you to become a sorceress.
I will give your dear sister my blessing in the mysterious afterlife.
My training does not take money. There is no need for someone who wishes to learn magic to pay.

Re: Warlin's question...
It appears my family were the victim of a greedy wizard! My father worked long hours to be able to pay for my sister's training. Some day I will have to go back and find that man...
But for now I have much to learn. I did not know that there was a difference between the rank of mages and sorcerors. What are the ranks among magic users?

Re: Warlin's question...
Apprentice is a wizard trainee who has just begun learning.
sub-wiz is just below wizard stage.
a wizard has had moderate training in the arts.
neo-wiz is a advanced wizard.
then there are sub, normal, and neo sorcerer levels of highly advanced magic strength.
and arch-sage is a wizard with extrordinary magic balance and strength.
there are special forms such as summoner[ summoning monsters] and necromancers [people who animate the dead]
what was the name of this greedy wizard you spoke of.

Re: Warlin's question...
His name was Connamar...
So I am going to be an apprentice wizard, and my sister was a wizard. I guess she knew these things but she was discouraged from discussing her training at home.
