You drag yourself through the desert seeing painful mirage after mirage. You drag yourself to another mirage oasis. You walk through a mirage rock, but it trippes you. You fall into the mirage water, it drenches you normally. An oasis you cry gleefully. You gaze up from the water to a large fortress...

Is this another dream or have I really been transported to this desert? Well, I'm the one who wanted to become involved with magic. I can't live an ordinary life while guarded by a spell!
I must be brave...
Shall I hide here in the oasis and wait to see what nightfall brings?
Or is it safer, I wonder, to approach the castle now...

I look to see if there is another way in, suspicious of an open, welcoming door... but it seems that I must take the chance and go the direct route into the fortress. I walk quietly across the bridge. The wood is so thick that it is easy to walk softly across it. All the while I peer ahead for any sign of life (or worse, something NOT alive!)

As you approach the door you are greeted by two gaurds. they bow silently as you enter the castle. A servant beckons for you to follow him as he leads you up a flight of stairs.
You are led to a throne room. Sitting on a sandstone throne is a man. He is bald with hazel eyes and dark skin. He is large and muscular.Besides brown trousers, all he wears is two large brown straps down his shoulders. "Hello," he booms in a cheerful voice. "I am king Onyx of the desert."

I am amazed. He doesn't look like a King, and if this is a kingdom, where do all his people dwell? I realize that there is much I have not seen, and I have so much to learn. Am I up to the task -- and what exactly IS that task?
With all these thoughts running through my mind I quickly curtsy to the King, lowering my head respectfully too.
"Your servant, your Majesty" I say politely, and await his response..
