Legend Valley pix
The show was a blast! We played well and had a great time. The stage was absolutley wonderful. An army of sound guys running around doing their thing. It was a hot afternoon, but we woke the happy campers with our unique style. The show started Thurs and was still rollin' on sat.
We parked next to a high $$ tour bus and trailer for the band "Moon Alice".
Oh,I got a couple minutes w/C.E.Smith. Very nice fellow, talked mainly about my metal sculpture.
Deb and I decided to not party and came on home at the end of the evening.
She took all photos. I was the only drummer carrying his own gear and setting it up! Everybody else had drum and guitar techs. Maybe someday.....
Anybody have an extra wing nut?
Got a logo decal for the b.d. I know it's not era correct, but it is my favorite design.I believe it's the late 50's style.
Thanks to all for the great words of encouragement. We can only get better!
Giggin every weekend for next 2 months!
I LOVE MY XP8s!!
Peace~Roger

Rogerwd, drum hero!
The pics look great. What a fabulous drum set! Did any of the other bands comment on the vintage aspect?
Good luck with the other gigs, too...

Re: Legend Valley pix
A couple of the sound guys wondered, and were surprised when I told them the age of all my stuff.
I am proud of the way the set turned out. I have learned the laquer finish is DELICATE!
The guy after us (Bagdad scuba review?from WI) had a rough SONOR kit,and it looked everyone else was playing DW.
Their kits were battered road warriors. I was like a protective parent when changing the bands out.
Friends in the audience said the thing was BOOMING! I wish I could've heard it from the audience perspective.

Re: Legend Valley pix
Yeah, the lacquer gets rash very easily, for sure. You can't have any rims or metal parts touching any of the finish while you're playing. Our natural wood finish drums are like guitars in that respect.

Re: Legend Valley pix
First set up lesson I learned way back in 1974 was this.... Nothing will be allowed to touch ANYTHING else. That was hammered into me from day one. Best, most effective way to avoid rash and rub.
Great pics, nice set up.

Re: Legend Valley pix
Wow, I wish I had been able to get that Wine Lacquer kit. Glad you are able to play it out.
As a tip: If I were the one constantly setting it up and tearing it down, I would get some large pieces of foam rubber to place over the bass drum while placing and adjusting those toms. In my experience, a mounted tom
dropping onto the bass drum is an all too common accident.
Also, if you like to/have to to place your stand hardware near the drums, perhaps some silver painted foam rubber sleeves that wrap around the stands at the probable drum impact points would be a good safety measure. Then you can adjust stands without worrying about them hitting the lacquer.
