Stew McGoo, You've Done It Again

After careful consideration, I added my '67 swivo hi hat to the Rogers Parklane ****tail outfit three weeks ago. I couldn't live without this key piece. I use it with the 1930s 11" Zildjian hi hat cymbals. I also substituted my Paiste 2002 18" flat ride for the 16" Zildjian medium crash. I just LOVE the Paiste flat ride!

I can still tote everything in three bags and a backpack. I use the hex collets (great tip!) on my swivo arms and brackets, so set up and breakdown is easy--takes less than 15 minutes, and I'm on the stage or in the car. This is real mock-Memriloc Swivo brilliance in action.

This drum set is tough as nails!!!

Lots and lots of comments and compliments on Stew McGoo (for those who don't know, the original owner etched his name--Stew McGoo--in the rims and a swivo mount). people are really blown away by the sound. We can't go anywhere without somebody wanting to know the history. Two Saturdays ago we played the Portland Farmer's Market and a guy pulled around in his tricked out show car to stop and ask questions ("Nice drum kit. Is it a Slingerland?") Also, the space constraints at the bars we play in make Stew McGoo the perfect fit.

Thanks, Rogerwd. It is a ton of fun playing an antique that has 'em scratching their heads.
