Live... from New York State
Greetings...
I've only skimmed the latest postings to try to keep abreast of all things Rogers.
Time is not on my side.
Tommy: Congratulations on your band! That's great news. (And, Yes!, age does get in the way sometimes. That's why I try to maintain my physical fitness at all times.)
Elicit: Best of luck on your new teaching position.
To everybody else... keep on doing what you're doing.
The site is great.

STUFF:
Family matters have settled... some.
My dad is doing OK... finally. (My sister is too.)
My step-son is better but cannot drive (State Law) and cannot work (He can't remember what he did for a living.) 'Twould appear that the condition is permanent. There was a woman on GMA last week who had the same thing happen to her 11 years ago... though her memory loss was more severe.
She went from a highly paid position to being a custodian today. Keeping my fingers crossed.

BAND STUFF:
We played Woodstock this past Saturday.
We were invited by the promoters of an annual revival festival.
The town does not approve... so the festivities are held some distance away... but about 30 bands were involved this year. State police were watching closely but there were no problems that I saw.
Man... some folks take this "hippie" stuff way too seriously. Going there was like entering a time machine that malfunctioned... old, white-haired, white-bearded, tie-dyed people standing around drinkin' 'n tokin' 'n
dancin' to the tunes... it was fun but strange.
There were tables set up where people were selling posters and bumper stickers and signs that read "IMPEACH"... when I asked, "Impeach who??" ... they answered, "Whoever." There you have it... old hippies carrying on til the end.
We also tried, again, to record a CD... at a place called White House Productions in Shelton, CT.
Was talked out of using my own Rogers kit... as theirs was a custom "Smith" set-up, already tuned and miked... while mine was an unknown quantity... doncha know?
It ended up with me using my own Powertone snare and my own cymbals with their kit.
Don't like the sound of their "custom" kit.
I've put a couple cuts on Orbitfiles. They are unmastered rough-cuts so they are unbalanced but serve to show
what we're doing. If you've a mind to... give a listen. They are songs 05 and 06... then let me know what you
think of my drumming.
Some photos of their kit:

Re: Live... from New York State
Snuffy--thanks for the news. The step son situation sounds scary and quite bizarre. Hope you make it through okay. Good luck, for sure.
The rough cuts sound pretty darn good. The singer (Jamie?) has a unique voice. Sounds like a very young Roy Orbison. The first song, when polished, might just have a sound unique enough to go somewhere. Whimsical is the word that comes to mind. Couple of words in the song might need to be changed to maintain the proper effect.
You're right, the Smith drums sound muffled. Still, on the second song especially, you're "there" dude. Good on ya.

Re: Live... from New York State
Must've been a blast to play at a large venue.
I'm guessing the hippies w/the stickers WANTED to answer"Nixon" when asked who should be impeached.heehee
Who says ya cant survive w/o most of yer brain cells? It's not their fault the acid was such good quality back then. I'm just joking. I'm a neo-hippie. Not quite a TRUE hippie, since I've had a job of some sort since I was a youngster.
I cant imagine your ROGERS kit would've sounded worse than this! For having only moongel as muffling, they sounded dead to me. Perhaps it'll be better in the final mix.
Song #6 is good. Keep up the good work.
Rock out w/yer ROGERS out!!
