I feel like Tommy....
BUSY,BUSY!!!
Been working TOO much o.t.(6:00am~5:30pm). Can't complain about the xtra $$$,but I'd rather earn it drumming instead of sweating and welding!
This past weekend was "Something Fantastic"fest. We played Friday evening and Saturday nite. Played on a yammercrapper. It was a decent kit. ALL "K" Zildjians,so that was nice. A big hole in the drum riser made me weary about falling thru whilst rockin'. I would've been REALLY rolling! haha
Tomorrow,I'm doing a session at the Recording Workshop. Not w/Ghost Farm, but another band that wanted a kick~ass percussionist. Why they asked me,I dunno!haha!
Friday,Ghost Farm is playing a free community concert series. This is the last show in the summer outdoor schedule. Food and beverages available. Guaranteed $$$,that makes it nice. And a three hour show,so it should be a blast!
Saturday,Ghost Farm is doing our normal bar gig. The historic Cross Keys Tavern in Chillicothe.
Might wear me out,but it'll be a good tired!
Tommy,give me strength!haha
I just cant wait to beat those XP8s again. They sound incredible outside, through a big sound system. Chillicothe is an old town,w/lots of brick buildings close together. One can hear the music for several blocks!!!
It's not the jam that wears me out,it's the roadie crap before and after! I always have to take a bunch of stuff.
It's all worth it when the jam is on!!
I hope to make enuff to fund some ROGERS items I have been lusting after....And so it goes.
Peace~Roger D.
Have a great week all!

Re: I feel like Tommy....
Boy, do I hear you, Rogerwd. It's the packing and traveling that's a killer. I have to drive 45 to 50 minutes in rush hour traffic to make it happenn. Then driving home at 11:00 or midnight, then up early the next day for the day gig...
Whew!
Good on ya Rogerwd! Keep the Rogers fires burnin! Sounds like you're having a blast and fitting into the groove.

Re: I feel like Tommy....
If I had the technology,I'd clone myself. One to go to work. And one to be my roadie/drum tech. LOL!
Oh,and one to drive. well, maybe the roadie/Roger can drive!

Re: I feel like Tommy....
Last night was a long one. Made it to work (6:00AM!)on time.
It was a pro-tools evening. Rev.DeadBob was the twisted mind in charge. Acoustic bass as rhythm guitar and bass tracks. I did shaker ,zil bell ,congas and djembe tracks.
All with a click track at 62bpm.
DeadBob played his part, looped parts and made it sound like a fluid thing. But I played straight through. I wanted it to be as "real" as possible.
He then put a 6-string electric bass guitar as the solo. And of course, vocals. Rev. DeadBob was hard at work when I left for Greenfield.
I left a bit after midnight, got home 40 minutes later. 30seconds later(or so it seemed!),the alarm blasted me awake.UGH! Time to weld the donuts.....or something like that.haha Hit a deer on the way to work, luckily it was on the ugly, already wrecked side,so no noticable damage.
Just got the drums/percussion switched out for tomorrows show. I'm pretty keyed up as I'll get to play those beautiful cali-wine XP8s for three hours!
And the weekend begins....
What is everyone else doing?
Has anyone heard from Bluejax1(Alan) recently?
Just wondering what was up w/him....
Peace~Roger

Re: I feel like Tommy....
I'm taking two weeks off the music scene (this was the first week). Driving my daughter to college in California next week. Still dreaming and thinking of Rogers. Had a dream about my band and Stew McGoo last night. Been doing lots of running in some mountain trails.

Re: I feel like Tommy....
What a weekend! Friday was incredible. The evening felt cool as a breeze picked up after a 90 degree day. The ROGERS looked great and sounded fantastic. The COB Pwrtone gleamed in it's chromed glory. A new Aquarian coated head guaranteed its participation. The evening was electric.
I set it up w/the 8" luddy tom as well as the 18" remo rototom. I brought every cymbal I had a stand for! We were supposed to play from 5:00~8:00pm. The crowd was eating, drinking and being merry. We were asked to play longer. We ended up playing for 5 1/2 hours!!! I had noodle arms! But it was a truly special evening. The music flowed like water. At one point,we played for almost an hour straight. Being a jam band,we tend to morph the songs into each other.
I spent most of saturday recovering. The band ended up being a banjo and two guitars and my percussion ensemble. A real crowd pleaser,we had a ball. This joint is always standing room only on sat night. We may have found a side project!
Made some scratch, but most importantly grew as a drummer. Can't wait to play this weekend! Gotta stretch out to alleviate the soreness.
Have a great week!
Peace~Roger
Got lots of compliments on the drums.

Re: I feel like Tommy....
Had another Recording Workshop session last night.
Rev. DeadBob was up to his usual madness! Had a song based on a horror movie. Not usually my cup o' tea,but it was fun to do some heavy White Zombie-type stuff.
As usual, the ROGERS XP-8s were awesome.
The powertone was just as comfortable gettin' da crap beat out of it w/some 5B's as expressing itself through brushes.
Lots of fun!!
