Need help with Luxor snare dates???
Hey Guys,
I'm new here, so "Hello everybody"!
Not a drummer, but own a studio in Cincy and just purchased a Rogers snare that the guy had ZERO info on. Sounded great, and was in mint condition (and really cheap!) so I went for it...
Anyhoo, it's a Roger's Luxor 6 lug wood snare (5.5' X 14, or 6" X 14", didn't measure it out) . Badge is script Rogers. Paper label on inside says SN# 9212, Cleveland.
I read through all the threads on the dating forum, but didn't see much on Luxor stuff... seems like the snare's a 60's, although it was sold to me as a "70's" model???
Thing's dead mint. Came with a stand, paper board case, sticks/key/yada... Looks like it's only been played a few times???
Anyway, any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Rick

Welcome!
It would be a 5x14. Probably 60's but pictures would help a lot. Interior pics also. Need to know what kind of lugs screws and washers and such.

Thanks Jack and John....
I'll wait to hear what Dan C has to say.
(and let my session guys beat on this thing in the meantime! It really has a great tone to it.)

Re: Need help with Luxor snare dates???
It's a beautiful Luxor. The WMP looks great. Looks all original. I'm guessing 1966. Let's see what DanC has to say.

Re: Need help with Luxor snare dates???
Hi,
Nice drum. That one is about a 1965. It has a serial number lower than 10,000 and the strainer is a Statite model.
This strainer was used on beavertail Luxors until the Bantam strainer came along, usually on snares numbered higher than 10,000.
Welcome to the club...
