57 SPOTLIGHT SNARE QUESTION
Okay, yet one more question with many to follow on my kit. I'm trying to get the right snare wire for the snare. The ones on there now are 16 strand and 12" long. There is no serial number, name or symbols anywhere. I have a feeling this isn't correct. Bread n Budda says he can hook me up with the correct ones, but I want to be sure. BTW, thank B n B for being there to help a rogers brother in need.

Re: 57 SPOTLIGHT SNARE QUESTION
I agree. those will work. But my main mission is to get the correct ones for this snare. I figure that's not going to be easy to find out. I have a snare wire on there that doesn't sound that bad. I'm just trying to get it back to correct. Are the ones on the ebay page yours are just some you found on ebay?

Re: 57 SPOTLIGHT SNARE QUESTION
Okay, I looked at some 57 information on the Cleveland section Gary posted. From one of the pages I found I should have a snappy snare, 12 strand or 20 strands, 13 1/2" long for a 14" drum. I'm not sure which and I'm also not sure if the original snare wire sold with the kit would have been a snappy snare. Was that an upgrade or was that what they called the snare wire on those models?
Never ending questions.

Re: 57 SPOTLIGHT SNARE QUESTION
Remember the snares in the for sale section of mine you were looking at? Those are the ones for your drum. Made by snappy for ROGERS and are stamped rogers as well. They fit student, special, and classmate jr drums. 12 strands. Technically you could put 12, 16, or even 20 strands on. Look at those model drums if its one of those your in buisness. Contact me if you want a set.

Re: 57 SPOTLIGHT SNARE QUESTION
I think this might help. This is Spotlight SN 8962. It arrived with what appear to be the original Rogers snares and strings. Due to the overall condition of the drum and hardware, I believe this to be true.
The width of the snare wire assembly is 1-5/8" (note that this is narrower than what most of us are used to).
The length is 13"
The number of strands is 16
And of course it has "ROGERS" stamped in the ends.

Re: 57 SPOTLIGHT SNARE QUESTION
I actually pulled this pic myself last night from the forum. I was puzzled because the parts snare wires in the 1957 pages posted by Gary showed 12 and 20 snare wires 13 1/2" length. I thought I counted 16 on this one as well. this actually adds more confusion for me. I figured it may take some time. I may get a good snare wire from a music store that will be much better than my one at present. If anyone finds out more, please let me know.
Thanks, tommmykat1

Re: 57 SPOTLIGHT SNARE QUESTION
Here's the page (and a closeup) from the 1957 catalog that specifically highlights the Spotlight snare. Note that it says "Snappy snares, 16 strands." I received this drum with the original heads, so it's unlikely that the snares would have been changed. All evidence indicates that this baby is original.

Re: 57 SPOTLIGHT SNARE QUESTION
Please check the size and model as stated above. All the drums TK is showing you are 14" many of the snare drums on Gary's pages are 13". You must know what you have, to get what you need. Please refer to the models stated in my last post against what you have or TK's for larger sized and other model drums. I dont have any 16 strand wires.
