playing a wfl hi-hat
I know my hi-hat isn't Rogers, but I'm looking for advice. I know it's from the 50's and is all mechanical driven internally, but I'd like to use it with my Spotlight set. What do you guys think about playing it and its durability? I don't want to ruin a vintage piece like that. Thanks.

Re: playing a wfl hi-hat
Jeff I gotta tell ya' that 50's and 60's hardware from any of the Big Four was some pretty rickety stuff. The chrome flaked off after the slightest scratch, the metal tubing was thin such that repeated tightening of the telescoping joint stretched the collar, etc. If your 50 year old hi hat stand is in really good shape, I'd save it for special occasions and use a modern unit for day-to-day.
Think of it like a Series 62 Caddy. Drive it on Parade Day but use the Honda to go to work...

Re: playing a wfl hi-hat
Thanks for the input. I'm kinda agreeing with you anyway. I just wanted some more opinions on the subject. There's too much internal and mechanical portion that could go wrong. Then, replacing them could be impossible. Thanks, again.
