57 SPOTLIGHT TOM ISSUES

Here's the latest in the 57 Spotlight saga. The muffler for the tom is no longer connected. From looking at pictures of a good one, the rod that shows at the bottom of mine looks to be on top and is where the muffler should reside. Anyhelp on how to repair or if someone may have a good one would be appreciated. Here are pics of the tom's muffler and mounting bolt layout.

You shou check the size of the nob. If its a small 1/2" nob, it will be hard to find one. If its approx 1" then just ask me. 35 shipped

Cundog, I believe the "rod" you're talking about is a large rivet. Ater the felt was removed or broken off, the rivet slid down in the hole over the years and is now frozen in place. To fix this, you'll need to drill out the old rivet and find a new one to match. Or, try someting like WD 40 and see if you can free it up. You then may be able to push the new felt over the top of the rivet.

Okay, guys. I have the rivet out and loose. Now, I have realized, that yes, the rivot was broken off. Also, it appears to be solid. Now having used rivets I know I usually use a rivet gun. This is much larger and solid. Did they hammer the one side down once it was put through? thanks fro the advise.

Hey, Rogers dudes. I forgot to let you know that I did manage to get the rivot out and used an anvil and a hammer to redo the same rivot. I glued the felt back on and it works like a charm. Thanks guys.
