Thanks for the warm welcome from the other thread and for the active era listing. I hope to learn more about this era myself from the people that share. Before the 1940 R lug snares below Rogers used Gretsch Rocket lugs in 1938.

Please post pictures of any others for comparison of anything with that draped rectangle badge. Eye candy is cheaper!

Peace, Gary

Hi Gary,

Nice to see you at this Forum. You've got a great collection of Rogers drum and a wealth of information to share.

I don't think I have any Rogers drums with that badge. I know I have some old eagle badge snare drums, I'll look later today.

Take care,

Bruce

Re: NJ Rogers

Nice to show that WAR time snare drum, with the wooden lugs.

From the Rogers second edition book. "No more than 10% of the weight of a drum could be metal."

Thanks Gary,

Bruce

Re: NJ Rogers

Thank you guys again for the kind welcome here. The build up was worth it if they were able produce those prime play-able tanks of 1964...

The 1938 Catalog shows Rocket lugs. The Premier 2 pt. looks like a Leedy Presto but has a curve in the arm and a different size tension knob. Premier(1937 cat.). Premier called it the Olympic model and was on their lower end 6 lug drums at the time.

The 1940/41 catalog shows their drums with the R faced heavy brass lugs. They were still using Slingerland 3pt. throws and Leedy 4pt. throw offs.

The attached pictures show what came after the R lug drums. The experimental Popsickle stick(pre Orchestra throw off) or mock Clam shell Thompson OH Covington barn works 1952-54.

Re: NJ Rogers

Glad you liked the WAR drum Bruce. Crude WAR butt plate. Note the minimal tension rod claw.
