Hi to all you Roger's Fans!

I'm a long time Roger's guy. I got my first Rogers kit in 1965 from a music sales rep who was selling it cheap and replacing it with the new stuff. A real nice small jazz set in WMP. To quote an anonymous drummer " Why did I sell that set ?" Oh well.
I dragged that set from the Yukon to Los Angeles and from Porland to Toronto when I was on the road full time, playing five and six hours a night, six days a week. In all that time nothing broke or let me down. Almost all of the other brands at that time could have been counted on like that when it came to the hardware. Great stuff.
I think we should all prostrate ourselves every morning and say thanks to the genius of Joe Thompson! All those incredible ideas and the man did not have formal training just that imagination. Talk about gifted.
I have read that a lot of you have forsaken your BD pedals! Yikes ! In my estimation that Swivomatic pedal is great. Unfortunetly when CBS took over the pedal was reengineered more that once and it wasn't to improve it.
The original materials and machining were first rate.
They used true needle roller bearings in the drive shaft assembly and good steel on the drive shaft. They jumped in and tried using bronze bushings instead of bearings and cheaped out on the drive shaft material all resulting in - you guessed it - pedal no good no more! They went back to a bearing but an inferior one.
I have taken a number of these apart and the wear is amazing.
I have been looking at putting a kit together that would fix these problems. My pedal shows very little wear and it's
been through the wars. My pedal is a 1965 model and I'm thinking that it was in Fullerton that things went over the hill.
Enough babbling - GLAD TO BE HERE!Image emoticon Image

Hi,
I wanted to touch base with you about your appreciation of that good old Swiv-o-matic bass drum pedal. For the last 6 or 8 months I've been taking apart old rejects ( can there be rejects??? ) and looking at the wear and so on of all of the different variations I have found from the earlier model all the way to the Supreme model. I will put my findings and what I see as good solutions to returning them back to original or better working condition. I'd appreciate hearing of your experiences.
Knothead.

Just today I started using my Swivo pedal that I bought a year ago. Much better feel than the other pedal I've been using.
You are obviously an obsessive, you'll fit right right in. Welcome.
