1957 Spotlight 3pc
I am posting the following pics for the owner who will chime in about his unique Rogers 1957 gem. Each drum has no exterior badge or interior paper tag. There was that 63 Champagne without script logos. I've seen on ebay a while back a 3pc that had lack of a logos as well. There must be more. Oh yeah...for those who look for the "F"...the snare is the earliest that I've seen with this ring indent. 1957-1964 Fs. I like the detail Rogers wing screws on this one. A fine example of Rogers pre Swivo era. Looks like a Slingerland L arm mount and arm on the bass.
Thanks to the owner for sharing these great detail pics of a classic complete Rogers 1957 outfit. Peace, Gary

Re: 1957 Spotlight 3pc
Those flat top B&B lugs are real hard to find. Real sharp set. You can see those oval plates were a hit from the start. Kinda like a signature. Those tabs on the B&B lugs are very long. I never saw a unmarked set before. I wonder if it was a request from the buyer. Did ya get a chance to play it?
Incidently I was cleaning up a set with the wider rerings {61} and noticed Rogers did some things I didnt know before. If you look in the screw holes for the lugs in the wood, you will find little tiny support rings inside the holes. They also chrome plated those brass self aligning ferrels inside the lugs too in the earlier ones. I didnt know that until yesterday when cleaning a set. The ones on my 62's are unplated. Thanx for sharin Gary

Re: 1957 Spotlight 3pc
Hey, Guys. thanks for all the kind words about my set. This thing has a long drawn out story behind it. I'll get into it later. I'm getting ready to follow David's cleaning instructions from the Vintage Drum Guide. I have a some work to do on the pearl wrap on the hoops for the main part. Otherwise it's polish up. the snare had a slingerland cowhide head on the top side when I received it, but it had a hole in the center. I hated that. I also have the wood block and the mounting kit for it. Unfortunately the cowbell was in sad shape and I threw it away before I knew what I had. I hate that at this point. Once I have her cleaned up, I'll post the complete set up of the kit. I have bought a sturdy Ludwig stand for the snare and have full intentions of playing them in some small gigs around home. The snare has a deep hollow sound and is very resonant. I throw my wallet up there, old school style and the sound is more to my liking.
I also have a wfl hi hat that has proved to be of value. I do not plan to play that. It's more of a collectible thing to me.

Re: 1957 Spotlight 3pc
Jeff a tip on cleaning these. Its a good idea NOT to remove the lugs. If the screws get rusted they will affix themselves to the tabs of the lugs and may break the tabs off. I just check to make sure the screws are tight.

Re: 1957 Spotlight 3pc
Great drum set Cundog!
I second Rogers-o's sentiments, especially if the lugs show no cracks, or minor ones. The deciding factor on whether to remove them or not is how badly cracked they may be. I recently removed the lugs from a 1961 Holiday and fully half the tabs broke as I unscrewed them. They had been fastened tight before that.
Your flat top lugs are probably irreplaceable. If some are badly cracked, I have a post in the restoration section about how you can repair them so that you can play these out.
