Re: English Roger Catalogues 1961 and 1963
Miscellaneous thoughts that occupy my mind from looking at these :-
1. (Second Image) Explanation of how the shells were manufactured appears very similar to the way that the Jasper shells of the same period were made.
2.(Third Image) A twin tom holder was available. If this was the case why did Dave Clark mount his tom in the way he did?
3.(Image six) Only wood shell snare drums are shown when COB and Lacquered brass was also available. It doesn't show up so well on the scan, but the English Rogers logo is shown on the floor tom slanted to imitate the US script logo, and the same on the BD- never seen this before. The damper on the snare has a small plate again making it look similar to the US one at least from the outside - again never seen this. Very early floor toms had straight legs. All stands are Ajax.
4.(Second catalogue, image seven) Knobby fitting available from 1963. A choice of Ajax or Rogers USA stands. Looks like those stands were shipped over.
5.(Second catalogue, image Five) Dynasonic available but the picture is of a US one??????
6.My favorite page
Shells being made, hoops in manufacture, a dyna being assembled (an English one) and a shell being wrapped.
