1983 - John Cermenaro's Set

This picture was taken when I was in a band with John Page who also worked in R&D designing Fender guitars. (That's on of his Telecasters on the left.)

You can see the 8x14 snare that I talked about in a separate post to this Forum.

There's also another one of my Memriloc sculptures. I like to fly as much stuff as I can off of one stand. Less clutter.

There's also a DW double pedal in there. It's a production model from the first year they were made. The extension arm was held on with wire pin instead of the square-head screws they use now. The universal joint wore out fairly quickly, so Don L. sent me a new one. Dave Levine was writing for Modern Drummer around then. (He later joined DW as their marketing guy and, in my opinion, is largely responsible for their growth. He left DW and, as Full Circle Management, is now doing the same for other drum companies.) Anyway, DW came out with this double pedal and Dave asked me what I thought about it. I told him it would never catch on.
Gotta love it.

I played double bass drums years ago but never liked the double pedal.

When I get my XP8's finished I'm going to experiment with the Memriloc. I will no longer sell any of my Memriloc stuff.

...and I'm gonna start bidding on every darn little piece of Memriloc gear I see. It is truly unfortunate that this concept was never allowed to see the next level. John, it must have been heartbreaking--much more than frustrating--to see Rogers go down the tube.

That air freshner... killa! Love it! Bass head reads WANE? Memerloc is shown far more versatile than anything Ive seen before on this forum. {Im learning here so beer with me} and once again some of these shells look deeper too. Im actually in the process of stacking myself using vintage stuff. Looks like alot of sound would come outta that get up. Its nice to get an engineers perspective. Thanx

That band was called The Waive.
At one point, we had about 15 old black & white TVs, painted them red, and stacked them on either side of the stage, all of them turned on and tuned to static.
Youthful inventiveness.

How cool is the brass horn! Was it new wave music? Do you still have this kit? Looks like fun!

They made them. Not many. But they are out there.
