Ahhh...70's, early 80's feathered hair look.
Brings back memories.

Tim
Came of age during the "Farrah" hair look. Will always love it.

She isn't tightening down on the hoop as I always thought it needed to be done (a little bit here, then a little bit there until you've got the whole thing at the right tension). Look at the side away from her and you can see how high it is - that is a lot of bow in the hoop.

But I'll bet she's put the heads on several hundreds more bass drums than I ever have! emoticon

Good eye, mainedrummer. We also get an idea as to why they went to standard tensioners rather than the thumb twisties: to speed assembly.

She's just got to get the heads and hoops on the drum. The final inspector would adjust the tension. You can't expect a lot of precision using a pneumatic tool.

T-handles or square head tenson rods would not have mattered much to manufacturing because we'd have just made a bit for the pneumatic tool that fit the T-handle. I don't know at what point Rogers switched to square heads. To me, it suited the kind of professional-grade bass drums we were building.

Thanks John, I agree that the drum key tension rods were the way to go with a professional line. The old bow ties looked good but didn't have the durability or clean lines.
