The Rogers B&B lug curiosity
I went to the drum show cupla months back. I saw some lrg B&B lugs on a floor tom, I see med lugs on Junquies ride tom, that are more commonly found on fl toms. Im sure there must be peanut or small type floor tom out there as well, tho Ive never seen one. Ive seen lrg tower bass type on the 6.5 snares as well as the med or standard too. Seams they just used what ever they had that day on some of these drums, when they had none of correct size/ type. Cuz I dont see a method to the madness. Is it me??

Re: The Rogers B&B lug curiosity
My 16" floor tom that got destroyed by a drunk driver had large B&B lugs. Who knows what they were thinking.

Re: The Rogers B&B lug curiosity
From the Rob Cook Rogers Book:
"According to Bobby Chiasson there were at least three generations of B&B lugs from 1959 to 1963.
Earliest mounted toms had the smallest of the three lugs with newer drums getting slightly larger lugs. Earliest floor toms and snare drums have the largest lugs while newer models got smaller ones."

Re: The Rogers B&B lug curiosity
That 1959-1963 description makes sense for generalization purposes.
The small reg script tom in this auction has the smallest peanut lugs-Should of had the middle size by then?
Also, Black interior (Bruce era??) mid 1950s eagle badge stuff has large flat lugs on the mounted toms=

There was a Mardi Gras 12x20 bass that I saw a while back that was factory drilled for those small peanut lugs. One rare cool drum. If the cat from LI that has it is reading this maybe he will post a pic.
I think there was a size for a specific era with a specific script or interior but as usual exceptions/freaks do pop up and confuse us all!
Peace, Gary

Re: The Rogers B&B lug curiosity
This snare has large lugs on it! And the rack tom has the med. Floor tom has large like the bass! Half the drums are from earlier Clevelands and the other 2 are later. If these lugs are original to the drums, it verifys Bobbys Chilssons/Robs Cooks analogy of the sizes used on B&B's. Would love to peek inside these. I cant get enough detail blowing them up..Will email owner.

Re: The Rogers B&B lug curiosity
Rogersoholic, If we say the center ridge B+B lugs came about in 1958 then I guess the stock of peanut lugs were used from 1958-1962/63ish. I've seen grey interior eagle badge toms with peanut lugs as well as regular script logos used with those peanut lugs on any pre beavertail bongos. 4-5 year span for the peanut! I've never seen a flat top peanut lug. Peace, Gary
