Re: Early Dayton Blue Glass Glitter
The ploughman. Really nice Blue Glass kit! Does your Cleveland Powertone have a elongated clock face throw off, or is it the round style? The reason I ask, is because I recently bought a Cleveland Powertone with serial # 7553, flat grey inner shell, and it came with the elongated style clock face throw off? Thank you for any help you might be able to give. olddrummer

Re: Early Dayton Blue Glass Glitter
One of my Cleveland Powertones, the COB, no. 3627 with the clockface. The blue glass glitter powertone is no. 3732, with the elongated swivomatic. Im guessing those two drums are 1964-65 drums, prior to the CBS sale and the Dayton move. I read somewhere the elongated was introduced in 1965. When I bought the Blue Glitter drum in O4, this was one of my issues with the seller, but he could not ascertain for sure the throwoff was original. And I am not. All I can do is compare numbers, and hope for a range. If it is original, it would be one of the first ones.
As a side note, I have a Dayton Powertone I recently purchased that is no. 15697, I think this is a 1967 Factory Fire era drum. I have two beavertails on it that are deteriorated. They look heated. The rest of the shell doesnt appear to have been hot, and has no damage of that sort. If the damage is heat, the drum was not together when it happened. I know damage to chrome might not be immediately apparent from heat.

Re: Early Dayton Blue Glass Glitter
Darn that blue glass glitter is a pretty kit. I'd like to get a matching snare like that for my Holiday kit. Any chance I could find one of these?
