Memriloc Hardware Magic
The Rogers Memriloc hardware system was a phenomenal breakthrough in drum mounting architecture, as significant as the Swiv-o-Matic hardware had been 20 years prior. Besides being easily broken down and set up, it was unique in its ability to create unlimited arrangements of shells. You could easily convert a Londoner 7 to a Londoner 5 to a Headliner, depending on the venue.
This pic from the Rogers Book shows a tri-mount bracket, which could be used to hold 1, 2 or 3 toms, or a cymbal arm. Note in the upper left drawing that the factory supplied a nylon finisher over the third slot.
The first three shots below show a 12" and 13" tom arrangement in succeeding closeups. I marked the bracket slots with colored tape. Note the white nylon finisher over the unused third slot. Also, the bracket arrangement can easily be turned around so that the third unused tier faces the audience or the drummer, depending upon how many of the slots you're using. I've set this up both ways.
The next shots are of the center cymbal arm that mounts in the bass drum. This is easily removed, and a tri bracket can be fit into the bass drum slot in its place. This would convert the kit from a Londoner 7 to a Londoner 5. Or, the mount could be further broken down into a single tom "headliner" arrangement.
The cymbal arm can be disassembled and placed into the third slot of a tri-arm using the wingnut half of its "claw" mechanism, combined with the tapered receiver half of a tomtom claw (see last photos).
Following are the 14" and 15" toms of the XP8 Londoner 7.
The next photo shows the tomtom mounting elbow assembly with both the wingnut claw (hidden from view facing the carpet) and tapered receiver claw (facing up). The wingnut can be swapped to either side of the arrangement, depending upon which way the drum faces.
The final photo below shows the trimount with one tomtom removed.
Memriloc hardware is way cool stuff. the cymbal stands also break down into pieces that can be used within the shell arrangement, or vice versa. The drum set-up combinations are limitless, and the naming convention that had been associated with Swiv-o-Matic hardware and the relevant holes drilled into the bass drum gave way to simply being the number of shells you added to a set.
What was the downfall of this magnificent breakthrough? The Rogers legal department was not allowed the funds to pursue patent protection and the Japanese drum manufacturers wasted no time in copying the product. This was the beginning of the end of the great Rogers drum company.

Re: Memriloc Hardware Magic
I'm on my way negotating to get a Londoner 5 from a guy. Will find out the price hopefully today. I'll have to contain myself from drooling. Are the only tobbacco sunburst XP8's or did they make this color during 5ply Big R time?

Re: Memriloc Hardware Magic
Thanks, Rogerwd, I know how fortunate I am to have these XP8 Tobacco Sunburst drums.
Rogers Memriloc, yes, Tobacco Sunburst was available in the 5 ply Big Rs, too. The best way to tell the two from a distant photo is whether the Big R shows out at the audience or not. The Big R badge on the 5 plys is to the right or left of the mount. On the XP8s, it is 180 degrees opposite, and therfore faces away from the audience. Obviously, if you can get close to the drums and look inside, you'll see the rerings on the 5 ply, and none on the XP8s. The wood wrapped 5 plys had a clear varnish on the inside of the drums, llike the XP8s.
The photo you include is interesting, as I don't see much of the red in the burst on all but the bass drum. These might be the rare color shade that is mentioned in the Rogers Book. The photo appears to show XP8s, but it's not conclusive, as side mounted badges could still be hidden from this view.

Re: Memriloc Hardware Magic
The same guy that is selling this set is the same guy that is selling this snare. I was reading an earlier post, and John C. was saying that they tried weird stuff sometimes like your Gina snare. I did notice that there wasn't a whole lot of red in the transition. I think this snare might have come in with this kit.

Re: Memriloc Hardware Magic
There were five ply burst sets with clear interiors. The donor drum for the 14x14 green glitter.........was such a five ply. It was in irreparable shape, but nice lugs.
