Can anyone check this color for me?
When was "Blue Mist" an available color?
I only have access to a few catalogs, but those with "The Rogers Book" should have this info readily available?
I am looking to re-cover an 5-ply "Blue Mist" kit, but I want to use an era appropriate color. Since these are not XP8's, I know they must be from 1977-1979 (ish).
Also, was "Platinum" ever available between 1977 and 1979? (ie, on a non-XP8 shell?)

Made for Hex or Pipe?
They started using the pipe in 78, just before the XP8 series came out
Colors 194blue , 195platinum, 196midnight in the 79 Cat. xp8 krampf on the cover

They are pipe floor tom legs.
So Platinum WAS another color available
in the same era as this pre-XP8 Blue Mist?
That would be great, because I found a good match for that Platinum wrap I would like to use.

Tim, the XP8s came out in 1979, with Craig Krampf on the cover of that catalog. Here is the last previous catalog I can find. It's the Big R catalog from 1977. I think the color name that you are referring to is Metallic Silver (first color):

'Metallic Silver' was not the color.
There actually is a 'Platinum' color in the XP-8 catalogs.

But my drums are 5-ply, probably from 1978. Anyone have a 1978 catalog? I just need to verify that Platinum was a non-XP8 wrap color. I have a great replica laminate of it ready to order.

Rogers didn't make a catalog every year. I don't show one for 1978. Drumgrrl or Jack also have catalogs. You may want to ask them in the "wanted" section, and see if I missed one.

Right. And unless someone can produce a 1978 catalog that shows Platinum, it looks like they didn't offer the color on the pre-XP8 Big Rs.

hi,just saw this thr have either side of this year.
The 1979 cat shows both blue mist and platinum as colours.
